Historia
It's late 1936, and King Edward is in turmoil, having fallen in love with the scandalously divorced and even more scandalously American Wallis Simpson. He wants to marry her but knows that doing so will jeopardize his crown. Edward confides in his dear friend Darcy, Georgie's husband, and the couple agree to hide Wallis in their home while Edward figures out what to do. But unbeknownst to Georgie and Darcy, Sir Hubert, the owner of the estate, has given a film crew permission to shoot a motion picture about Henry the Eighth and Anne Boleyn on the grounds

I like this series, but have always read them. This book was much like the others in the series, with a decent storyline and familiar characters. However, this was the first one I have listened to, and I did not care at all for the narrator. She gets quite screechy when doing some of the characters. I won't spend money on another audiobook if she is the narrator. I'll read the e-book instead.

London: 1968. Liz Houghton is languishing as an obituary writer at a London newspaper when a young girl’s disappearance captivates the city. If Liz can break the story, it’s her way into the newsroom. She already has a scoop: Her best friend Marisa is a police officer who is assigned to the case. Liz follows Marisa to Dorset, where they make another disturbing discovery. Over two decades earlier, three girls disappeared while evacuating from London. One was found murdered in the woods near a train line. The other two were never seen again.

Great story idea with poor execution.
Revisado: 01-14-25
I have read / listened to several books by this author and she fell seriously short on this one. The kidnapping of the children could certainly have happened but the way the main characters of the book (two police officers and a newspaper reporter) react to both the kidnappings and the murders is completely unrealistic. It was really quite poorly done. I would not recommend this book.

The Millers are far from perfect. Estranged siblings Beck, Ashley, and Jake find themselves under one roof for the first time in years, forced to confront old resentments and betrayals, when their mysterious, eccentric matriarch, Helen, passes away. But their lives are about to change when they find a secret inheritance hidden among her possessions - the Florentine Diamond, a 137-carat yellow gemstone that went missing from the Austrian Empire a century ago.

Great story idea, mediocre book.
Revisado: 01-05-25
It is hard to like a book when you don't like the main characters. The title did say the Imperfects and they weren't kidding. They all bickered, lied, blamed others, and denied wrongdoing throughout the book. The storyline was good so I did finish it but I would never listen again.

Historia
Twice in her life, college counselor Gayla Oliver fell in love at first sight. The first time was with Brian - a lean, longhaired, British bass player. Marriage followed quickly, then twins, and gradually their bohemian lifestyle gave way to busy careers in New York. Gayla's second love affair is with New Bern, Connecticut. Like Brian, the laid-back town is charming without trying too hard. It's the ideal place to buy a second home and reignite the spark in their 26-year marriage. Not that Gayla is worried. At least, not until she finds a discarded memo in which Brian admits to a past affair....

Very slow moving.
Revisado: 07-27-24
I stopped listening to this book about halfway through. I know Vietnam wasn't pretty and that the nurses and Dr.s were very heroic. That being said the only thing up to the halfway point in this book was the daily bloody slaughter of human life. I felt like the book was never going to move forward so I gave up.

Revisado: 11-29-22
I have liked all the books in this series. The plots are generally good and the stories move along nicely. I do wish that the Jake would get a little smarter as the books move along because she makes the same bonehead moves in nearly every book. Better character development through the series would be nice.
