"Green light," "Note to Self," "wet dreams." Those 3 themes repeat throughout the bio. There's not much else to hear. I wasn't blown away by his stories. No real struggles. He made it big pretty easily from his first film to the Oscar's.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Smokey narrate stories about his upbringing, family, friends, and career. I was deeply moved by his testimony of losing his mother when he was just 10 years old. I appreciated his stories of how he knew so many Motown singers in their seminal stages before they achieved stardom. Last but not least, I loved hearing Smokey sing the songs that he wrote and performed throughout his career. This bio is one of the best bios on Audible!

The Good: Holly Madison tells entertaining, scintillating, and funny stories about her climb to infamy as Hugh Hefner's girlfriend. she is really funny when she impersonates Hefner, Chris Angel, and the girls whom she hates.

The Bad: Holly repeatedly over-enunciates "H" in every word that starts with a "W"!

Instead of "what," she says "hhh-wut." Instead of "whisper," she says "hhhh-wisper." Instead of "where," she says "hhhh-ware." it's funny at first. but she needs to stop. It's just annoying.

If you want to hear stories of desperation, melodrama, cat-fighting, abusive relationships, and mind-games, this book has it all. I couldn't believe how such beautiful women would subject themselves to such demeaning "opportunities" that do not lead to financial wealth nor fame. the price of fame (or infamy) is not worth it for many of the girls in these stories.

I hesitated at 1st because of the recent incident when he punched Chris Rock. But finally I listened to this and I fell in love with the story behind Will Smith. His grandmother Gigi is amazing and I wish I could have met her. Will Smith is not a perfect guy but he realizes this and he knows that through change and self-improvement who makes himself a better guy. This is probably the best narration of all the audibles I've heard. Will Smith puts so much personality and 1st person perspective that this surpasses all other audibles

I finished this bio so quickly. I only wish Simu shared more about his recent success in Shang Chi. I felt most touched whenever he reflected on his grandparents and the love that they blessed him with in his early childhood. Simu reveals the pains and struggles that he (and many Asian immigrants) endure growing up with Tiger Parents.

I enjoyed listening to Simu describe his determination and hustling to succeed as an actor! I wish I could talk with him about these stories!

Animal Farm is one of my favorites from George Orwell. I think it brings the story to life.

As a Letterman fan, this story is sad

I grew up watching David Letterman every weeknight. I thought he was just hilarious with his saracstic humor. It felt more spontaneous than Leno or Carson, who were very scripted. I even watched a live taping in the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway.

But, hearing this bio made me see the negative side of Letterman. Of course this was written by an independent author and narrated by an independent reader. So I don't think this has David's own perspective. This bio feels more like a criticism of David's career rather than narratives from David. I wondered throughout this bio whether David approved of these stories and the angles that were shared. Most of them painted David to be a harsh, negative, and impersonal guy. The bio made Dave seem like he was misanthropic and that he innately hated people.

Of course much of it based on the facts available, interviews with other people, and those who worked with Dave. Seems like he really rubbed many people the wrong way. I wish Dave came up with his own autobiography.

Overall, this Audible wasn't as inspiring as others that I've heard.

I have to admit that I'm already a fan of Jo Koy. I've seen him perform live on stage in San Francisco, met him after the performance, and have watched his other performances on Netflix. Hearing him share his life story makes me respect him even more as a person.

Jo Koy shares about the early struggles in his life in full detail. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The financial and familial hardships in his life reflect how much he appreciates his success today. He overcame so many obstacles that would have prevented most other people from succeeding in the comedy/entertainment industry. But, Jo Koy truly believed in himself. He was fortunate to meet some people who helped him progress. But in the end, he would not give up.

Props bro!

Ali Wong is my new favorite Asian comedian

I'm glad that Ali narrated her own bio. She adds impromptu jokes that are beyond the script. She was able to share from a first hand perspective who she really is. I like that she was able to entertain with stories about her attempts as a starving artist in NYC, desperation to find prince charming anywhere in the world, her own personal insecurities, and relationships with her parents.

I'm especially glad that Ali openly shares how proud she is to be married to an Asian American male! So few Asian females share this belief because they are misled to think that white men are Prince Charming or a knight in shining armor. Ali makes fun of Asian females who are deluded to believe in such myths. Ali shares how her husband Justin and her share so much in cultural similarities, beliefs, and visions for the future. Ali is proud of her husband's intelligence (Harvard MBA) and his loyalty to her and their kids.

In the end, that's what this bio is all about: a story for the kids to listen to one day and know who their mother and father really are. I'm glad that Ali could share this story publicly because many people can appreciate a quality married couple's story.

To Ali: Good luck in all of your entertainment pursuits. Go Bruins! UCLA all the way!

Audible bios are generally better when read by the author/subject of the biography. Mindy Kennedy doesn't sound like a porn star, but more like a girl from next door. She reads in a way that creates unintentional humor. The story of Monica Mayhem is relatively predictable: Poor girl from a broken family turns to stripping. Stripping leads to porn. After a while the story is somewhat boring because she tries to explain her Wiccan beliefs. So, I'll give this away. She's a "witch", but doesn't want you to think it's evil. Eventually, she talks about how the porn industry doesn't make much money because so many videos are free on the internet and girls are doing it for low rates.
