Historia
Nearly every marriage starts out happy, and if we're honest, nearly every marriage at some point becomes unhappy. Is there a solution? Kevin and Marcia Myers, married for 37 years through nearly every challenge a couple can face, emphatically say yes. Rooted in Scripture and contemporary insights from the Myers' marriage, as well as real stories from other couples, this revelatory book shows how any marriage can regain depth, meaning and, yes, happiness.

Actually helpful
Revisado: 06-10-24
This book was incredibly easy to listen to and provided plenty of easy to implement, real-life, clear examples and resolutions. I enjoyed the audio book so much and found it so helpful, I'm ordering a physical copy to read and take notes in. Didn't feel judgy like other marriage books. Didn't "beat a dead horse" with endless repetition.

Historia
This is your wake-up call to resist the Hustle culture and embrace the slowness of Jesus. Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic. What we are doing isn't working! In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm and information is king, we have forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning.

Life Changing
Revisado: 01-19-21
The author is so pleasant to listen to! He's articulate, yet down to earth and personable. There wasn't a single moment that I didn't enjoy.
Our culture is so focused on performance. Bigger, better, faster, stronger. He who sleeps least in his pursuits is destined to become king. But for what?? We run ourselves into the ground pursuing earthly desires and admiration from our peers. We're damaging ourselves and our families on every level. Jeff discusses and encourages the Biblical principles of Sabbath and rest in a way that I've never encountered before. It's easy to understand and the principle sounds simple enough to put into practice - - even considering the immense difficulty people will have with slowing down and intentionally resting in the Lord.
Do yourself and your family a favor and listen to this book... Repeatedly. I look forward to implementing Jeff's suggestions and Sabbath with the Lord into my family's lives.

Historia
In his entertaining and inspiring follow-up to Love Does, Bob Goff takes listeners on a journey into the secret of living without fear, constraint, or worry. This liberated existence we all long for is as simple to say as it is difficult to do: We are called to love everybody, always – even when it’s really difficult.

Tell us how great you are, Bob!
Revisado: 02-05-20
I'm not an eloquent writer, so bear with me. The author is an excellent story teller. However, I really struggled with finishing this book. I absolutely love the idea behind it--love everyone, always. He discusses pushing our worldly selves aside and bringing Jesus into people's lives through selfless acts of love, kindness, and sacrifice. Make the act about showing everyone Jesus, not ourselves. Don't brag about the love you've shown others. Great idea. BUT this author spends SO much time talking about himself--how great he is, his accomplishments in life, his lavish spending on lodges, missions, international trips, etc. While I applaud the positive things he's done for people all over the world, it could have been presented differently. He seems pompous and self righteous and this book seemed more like a biography and celebration of Bob Goff's life and "selfless" accomplishments than an instruction manual filled with encouragement for loving others. You might glean something from it, but I certainly didn't.

Conventional wisdom says that "it takes two" to turn a troubled marriage around and that both partners must have a shared commitment to change. So when couples can't agree on how - or whether - to make their marriage better, many give up or settle for a less-than-satisfying marriage (or think the only way out is divorce). Fortunately, there is an alternative. It Takes One to Tango is a groundbreaking guide that shows how one determined partner can spark lasting, significant change in a marriage.

Some good ideas; tough to finish
Revisado: 03-07-19
This book provided some new and interesting ideas that I've never considered before. I've always thought fixing a marriage required effort from both sides, and it can be tough to coordinate partners to "move" at the same time. This book showed me that it's possible to improve your marriage on your own and that, in time, your partner will (hopefully) follow suite.
Overall, some good talking points hidden deep in some very, VERY boring narration.
