Don't Even Bother
Revisado: 08-26-23
This book seems to have been written by a preteen. She uses words and terms that were nonexistent in the 19th century. Gentrification? Really? The dialog is pedestrian, the story is juvenile, but what is worse is a narrator with a poor command of the English language. She was boring as well, but all the mispronounced words was embarrassing, If I could give it zero stars I would.

Good book but worst narrator ever!
Revisado: 03-05-23
The narrator of the book mispronounced so many words it was comical. If you see Cindy McKerchar as the narrator don’t waste you money. Get the ebook instead.

Poor Writer's Divergent
Revisado: 06-08-14
What disappointed you about Defect?
The narrator was awful, boring, no voice inflection and at some point every character sounds exactly the same. It's so similar to Divergent that it's embarrassing. The author should write kids books because the dialog, plot and grammar are grade school level.
Has Defect turned you off from other books in this genre?
No I have read many that are brilliant, some that we're just okay, but this is the first one that is truly terrible. The only reason I finished it, is because I paid for it and I wanted to write a review so I felt obligated to listen to the entire book.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Yes she was so bad it was comical.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None
