Historia
On the Cold Valley Indian Reservation, in the shadow of Pale Peak, Onwe Lopez struggles with the past as much as the present. By day, he watches his people abandon the Old Way as they flock to the local church. By night, he dreams of his childhood friend Akántha, who vanished from the rez decades prior. Then, catastrophe strikes: a horrific accident brings a stranger to town with stories of unfathomable death. A ghastly figure wanders the night, peering into houses and terrorizing a tribal elder. Hideous whispers emanate from the nearby caves, beckoning Onwe inside.

Historia
“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

Great stories and Will Patton killed it with the narration as usual. It may not be his scariest collection but it might be his best written collection

Historia
All Hallows Hall, a rambling Tudor mansion on the edge of the bleak, misty moor is not a place many would choose to live. Yet the former governor of Dartmoor Prison did just that. Now he's dead, and his estranged family is set to inherit his estate. But when the dead man's family comes to stay, the atmosphere of the moors seems to drift into every room. Floorboards creak, secret passageways echo and wind whistles in the house's famous priest hole. And then, on the morning the family decides to leave All Hallows Hall once and for all, their young son, Timmy, goes missing.

Pretty darn good. Surprised me halfway through
Revisado: 05-21-24
Starts off as sort of a boring slog with dialogue that just doaesnt seem realistic and then around chapter 20 it starts to pick up and becomes a pretty thrilling read. Pretty cool premise. Good for a one time read.

Revisado: 05-07-24
It was a good creepy read. Well put together story. A bit campy at times I think but that’s not bad.
I really enjoyed all the characters. Very human.
I would definitely recommend if you enjoy supernatural horror.

These people will give anything for the idols they worship, be they rock stars, actors or authors. Or even serial killers. Lori is just such a fanatic. Her obsession is with Edmund Cox, a man of sadistic cruelty who butchered more than 20 women. She’s gone so far as to forge a relationship with him, visiting him in prison and sending him letters on a regular basis. She will do anything to get close to him, so when he gives her a task, she eagerly accepts it. She has no idea of the horror that awaits her.

My first foray into extreme horror. Not gonna lie, it was a bit too much for me but it was a really well written story so I can’t fault it for being what it was.
But seriously, WTF.
10/10 I guess. I’m gonna go shower now.

Outstanding Narration and Story
Revisado: 01-30-24
Definitely one of the better books I’ve ever read. I really loved the characters and the way the it all comes together in the end. So many little bread crumbs throughout the story that end up being important to the climax. Dan Simmons killed it.

Movie is better than the book
Revisado: 12-05-21
A rare occasion, but true, the movie is much better. This book is a boring slog. if you're expecting crazy fights between Mobile Infantry and Bugs, you won't get much of it here. its mostly politics and scifi boot camp....and the sci fi is rather underwhelming.
Narrator did a good job though.
