Raw. Honest.

This book is raw and very honest. Fortunately, she lightens up the whole thing with sarcasm and humor. Without that, the book would have been too heavy for me. I cannot relate in any way to her past addictions,but it doesn't matter. It doesn't take away from the experience of the book. It helped me understand more of her. For example, I now understand in a different level the videos where she give $500 to her cleaning lady and the pizza delivery guy. That's even more awesome now. The book ends on a positive note full of hope, and I am so grateful for that. Like other readers, I couldn't stop listening to the audio book. I had my audible set up on sleep mode and then would get mad when I'd fall asleep. I just wanted to listen to her book and sleep was getting in the way. I did fall asleep for the whole night, but first thing I did when I woke up? Actually, I took my dog outside, BUT I was listening to the book while walking my dog, and then while in the shower, and then during breakfast, and then while I was distractedly checking emails. I just finished the book. I like happy endings and this gave me that. I wish her and her family the best of luck/strength/generosity/compassion for their future. Oh, and Laura, thank you for that "hour of power". I'll try it.

This book has so much information that it could have been 3 separate books. I will have to listen to this audio book a few more times just to make sure I have understood all the points she is making.
This book is about understanding our fears, and how to manage them. There will always be things in our lives that will create fear in us, but Evy helps us in two ways: 1) Prevention. Do physical changes to your environment and yourself to minimize interest from people who would like to do you or your home harm (better security system, change your posture, take self defense classes, etc, etc..). 2) Defense. Once you are scared, she teaches you how to act despite fears, and how to handle yourself after you faced a fear.
***Mostly though, Evy empowers us. ***

There is also a section on how to read people, how to ask questions, and what type of questions to ask. I found this particularly interesting considering the fact that I am a teacher. This chapter is wonderful for any parent, any one who needs to question someone trying to sell them something, people in an untrustworthy relationship, and the list goes on and on. You can also use these skills to make interesting conversation with people you meet instead of just talking about the weather and pleasantries.

I highly recommend this book. I think it is a necessity to listen to her message. Even if you only apply one of her many recommendations, it's one more thing you are doing to improve your life.

I am now going to have my kids listen to her message.


By the way, Evy, if you are reading this, I'm very sorry for your loss. No matter how old we are, we are always too young to lose a parent.

I really liked this approach

I felt like I was sitting with the teacher and two other students, and we were all learning together.
I love how he builds his sentences. For example, you might learn to say "I can", then I can do it, I can do it now, i can't do it, sorry, i can't do it now.... etc.
in one section, he was explaining the history of the English language to help understand the Italian. I found that part fascinating.
my only wish would be to have more and longer lessons.
*this is NOT an advanced course! Maybe more for an advanced novice.

just listen to Netflix in Italian with subtitles.

so confused. I thought this was a course to LEARN Italian. It is simply a guy who reads stories in Italian and there is no translations at all. That's it. That is all it is. I would recommend you just go on Netflix, watch something with Italian language and put on subtitles in your language of choice. You will learn a lot more that way than this program.
Good thing this was free! I guess you really do get what you pay for. I'm deleting it now.

I love all these books, but this one is my favorite. Yes, there was the murder investigation, but there was a lot of personal and relationship events in this story. I really enjoyed learning more about the characters.
