New York socialite Caroline Ferriday has her hands full with her post at the French consulate and a new love on the horizon. But Caroline’s world is forever changed when Hitler’s army invades Poland in September 1939—and then sets its sights on France. An ocean away from Caroline, Kasia Kuzmerick, a Polish teenager, senses her carefree youth disappearing as she is drawn deeper into her role as courier for the underground resistance movement. In a tense atmosphere of watchful eyes and suspecting neighbors, one false move can have dire consequences.

Reader beware
Revisado: 10-29-24
Spoiler! loved this book however I was unable to finished it. Maybe you can, the reason is while the women survive and it’s probably an amazing finishing with the conclusion of the women who endured unspeakable abuse and trauma at the hands of WWII Nazis Drs. It was just too triggering and traumatic for me to continue (I didn’t even know the Nazies had done this but it is based on a true story). I really wish I had read the review and someone told me that this is what the book is about.

Historia
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Love this full cast enactment
Revisado: 07-27-24
Absolutely loved this full cast reading of one of my favorite young adult fantasy stories. My only complaint was the background music - it was cheesy and at times annoyingly bad. The story draws you in right from the beginning and you want to follow Poppy in all her misadventures and love interest with Hawk. Story is passed well and keeps your interest even if at times it’s predictable.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Revisado: 05-12-23
I never read this book because the names and many languages intimidated me. I loved listening to Maggie read this and will look for other books that she reads because her voice was great not soothing so I want to fall asleep if you get what I mean.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Revisado: 12-13-21
I feel like I’m friends w/Dave now. His stories while sometimes rambled together and not sure of timing are hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking (we all know that heartbreak - cause we felt it too!). I loved his different voices & felt like he’s just like you & I crushing on rock gods he admires. I would actually listen to this again it’s such a great feel good book!

Historia
One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.

Revisado: 11-08-21
Always been a sidelined sex pistol’s fan, and a huge fan of Jonesy’s Jukebox sill missing him on the radio at noon Monday-Friday! To get to listen to him read his book was a pleasure! I live his off the wall sense of humor and tales of his brushes w/the law & other famous people. ❤️
