Historia
Guy is about to finish writing his breakthrough online article. He overheard the story by chance in a pub and it’s guaranteed to go viral - all he needs to do is persuade the World’s Unluckiest Man to talk to him. His best friend Larry’s quest for killer clickbait material has led him to a recently appeared shanty town in Glasgow, where he finds some kind of urban voodoo cult. Ex-cop Sam has already come face-to-face with the terrifying force behind both these phenomena, but he’s been trying to put it out of his mind.

My First Luke Smitherd Book
Revisado: 10-21-21
I'm going to be honest, when I saw the cover picture, I thought this book look really stupid. But, I listened to the sample, liked Mr. Smitherd's accent so, I gave it a shot. I'm happy I did because now, I've found my next binge-worthy author.
I loved this book for several reasons. First, it turned out to be my favorite genre, supernatural horror. Second, it was mysterious enough, I wasn't sure how it would end which kept my attention. Third, the main character, Guy, is simultaneously a shit and sweet so, I really loved him. Finally, the premise actually scared me, which is hard to do. I will NOT be accepting any ugly trinkets left on my doorstep anytime soon. Well done, sir.

This Woman is Daft!
Revisado: 10-10-21
I simply couldn't finish this book. After her umpteenth "how stupid could one person be?" I gave up. She's an idiot. I feel bad for the abuse she suffered in her childhood and MAYBE early on in her marriage but, after awhile it just became silly and tedious. Do not recommend

Historia
As little girls, we dream of one day becoming a ballerina, a doctor; or a lawyer. We dream of having it all - a wonderful husband, beautiful children, a dog, the perfect house with a picket white fence. You know, the classic fairy-tale that most little girls fantasize about with their friends. This might not be your story, but is definitely mine. Maybe you can relate to some things or none at all. The end result of this story is an unhealthy, unhappy relationship that mutates into abuse.

Interesting story but..
Revisado: 09-25-21
This was a decently written book and fairly well narrated. That being said, this woman and her story irked me. Now, I'm not making light of her situation and I wasn't present during the abuse. However, she seemed to antagonize her husband and throw insults right into his face (you're being a dick) in one second and the next cowering in the corner whimpering. My point is, she KNEW this man was a monster but, seemed to find great pleasure in taking jabs at him. Not a smart move, in my opinion. The other thing that flat out pissed me off was Ryan. At first she seemed about being his step mom and being able to adopt him but, when her hubs was threatening to kill her, her only concern was for Grace and herself. Not a stinking thing said about poor little Ryan.. At the end, she talks about her happiness and how beautiful and terrific Grace is but, crickets when it came to Ryan. Did he go back to his mother? Did she keep him? Honestly, that little guy got a raw deal. A mother who signed him away, a psycho father and an apathetic step mom.. I'd skip this one

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Revisado: 08-23-21
I just recently discovered Gilliian. I listened to Gone Girl first and really liked it. The synopsis of Dark Places sounded intriguing so, I took a chance. I'm really happy I did. It's a fantastic who-done-it with a quirky main character. I love the switches between past and present. I also really dug the climax and ending. I was actually surprised.

A simple, straightforward story. The main character is very likeable. To me, it read as a coming of age. I looked forward to listening every evening. I've been reading King for 35 years and this one is right up there for me with 11/22/63 and the Gunslinger series.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Brace yourself. You will begin to listen to all kinds of stories, from zombie-killing individuals to spooky warnings from ghosts. Most of these are not heavy, gory horror stories but lightly sprinkled humorous ones with casual plot twists that most people will enjoy. Murder is definitely one of the main themes as is survival in a post-apocalyptic era. Ghosts and beasts in different forms will adorn the elements of these psychological and action-packed stories.

Sophomoric and Extemely Predictable
Revisado: 01-17-21
I did not enjoy anything about this book. The narrator's voice was grating and her character "voices" were laughable. The text itself was amazingly idiotic. I just kept picturing the author with a pen in their mouth trying to think up big words and quips. Whomever edited this should probably be fired.

Great pandemic story. I loved the concept of repetition. The narrator has the most hilarious American accent. He sounds like someone from the midwest trying to pass himself off as Texan and failing miserably. I LOVE IT. Seriously good liaten

Historia
Nick Adams is just a normal guy. He loves his family, appreciates his home, and covets his car. But he absolutely hates his job. Which is what makes it so difficult when not a single customer comes by his store that day. It seems as though there's a bug going around, something that has come out of nowhere and is keeping people at home. Still, it's probably nothing to worry about. People get sick all the time. And besides, things are finally starting to look up. Nick's first customer of the day has just stumbled through the door…

I really liked the pace of this book, it pulled me in and kept my heart racing. A very relatable main character and lots of animal love. The ending left me in tear. Another score by Iain.
