My heart!
Revisado: 04-24-25
First off, Tavia! You are an amazing narrator and really bring the characters to life and personable.
Amy Harmon has done it again. What a touching story. I teared up several times not necessarily because of sadness and much as how relatable some details were.
Without giving away details, I also yelled at one point “don’t you dare! This can’t happen again!” Near the pond.
My heart couldn’t take another punch.
Certainly recommend!

To me, that's all Lucian Aston is—a highly sophisticated, posh Englishman who stars in my daydreams. Mostly because of the way he views me as a loud, boisterous, no-nonsense surgical nurse he's stuck touring London and Paris with up to the day of his groundbreaking surgery. Until then, we've got a lot of downtime to kill. So, it's only natural that I put my best foot forward to get to know him a little better. Problem is Lucian has no intention of taking a single step in his fancy wingtips to meet me halfway. That is until we strike our deal.

Cute story, male narrator pulled it down some.
Revisado: 02-04-25
Cute story. I can see some of that actually taking place. I LOVE LIVE LOVE the fact that the main female character is curvy and there’s body positivity in this book.
The male narrator isn’t my favorite and not sure if it’s the speed or accent that made it worse. Then when he became whiney- I’m just wondering if I would have read it that whiney. Especially a doctor. More especially a surgeon. Most especially that he is a heart surgeon.

Historia
Ruth Winters is retired, widowed, and resigned to spending the rest of her life alone in her suburban home. She likes her routine and uses it to avoid having to spend time with other people. She probably wouldn’t call herself fulfilled, but it’s too late now to go chasing happiness. Then three things happen at once: a beloved niece makes a big announcement, an old flame reaches out, and her estranged sister receives life-changing news.

Relatable
Revisado: 01-16-25
Tell me you’re from a dysfunctional family in a small town without telling me.
I saw one reviewer who had clutched her pearls and just wouldn’t finish the book. I get it.
But I can relate to so much in this story.
Thank you to the reviewer who mentioned how flat the narrator was in the beginning. That was kind of tough to get over that hump. Much more expressive and less clench jawed once the story warmed up.
I got all up in my “Feels” towards the end and was hiccup crying. (Glad I was home and not in public).
There are so many instances in this storyline that is so relatable to me that I did not expect.
Hug the ones you love.
Reach out to those you’ve lost touch with.
Leave a legacy of some sort.

Historia
Winnifred "Win" McNulty has always been wildly independent. Not one to be coddled for her limb difference, Win has spent most of her life trying to prove that she can do it all on her own. And, with some minor adjustments, she's done just fine. That is until she has a one-night stand with the incredibly charming Bo, a perfect stranger. And that one night changes everything. While Bo is surprisingly elated to step up to the plate, Win finds herself unsure of whether she can handle this new challenge on her own or if she'll need a helping hand.

What a sweet story
Revisado: 01-15-25
First, let me commend VICTORIA CONNOLLY narrating this sweet story. (I’ll go find some other books she narrates for sure.)
Great content, certainly rooted for the characters, just enough spice- …
Great for reading just a good book. Really great for a palate cleanser or for when you don’t need to think so hard that you feel like you need to rewind a minute to make sure you caught every clue.

Applicable in many of our lives.
Revisado: 01-14-25
First off, at 30 min left in the book, I’ve become so invested that I say out loud “you better not f’n die after all this!”
And am tearful the rest of the book to see how it ends.
Granted, this is another book that is in present time and goes back to whatever year to explain why the current feelings are there. I know a lot of folks don’t like the back and forth- I generally don’t mind but I’ve figured out that in real life, this is how I tell a story. Because I think you will want to know how I came up with the current thoughts of the story by giving the back story. (Here in the south, we call it going around the mulberry bush to get to the end of a story).
Even though some of the jobs and higher end happenings isn’t something I personally can relate to, all of the angst and conflicts are applicable in my area very much.
I really did enjoy it and will recommend it.
Also the narration was superb!

The beginning was tough for me to not easily out aside. But the meat of the story was much better and then that emotion plot twist at the end was well worth the listen.

Whew, what some twists and turns.
Revisado: 12-27-24
I hate giving a review of feeling like this story was slowish, because I sometimes think it’s just the mood or mindset I’m in at the time. I’m pretty sure that’s the case with this book. It kept having plot twists where you know something is up, but not quite sure exactly who or why. I did take a day break with 2 hrs left to listen- but then had to finish it because I needed to know the ending and who did what and why. (Which says a lot because I have plenty other books to go to.).
Narration was well done.
Many plot twists with just enough background to guess anyone to be the actual villain.
I’ll recommend it to my book club and to you who wonders if you should read it.

Audible trapped me again!
Revisado: 12-12-24
Browsing my library for the next book to listen to, I’m trying to grab some of those that are only available until the last of the month. I had already put this freebie in my library. Halfway in, I’m curious about the author and other books- to find out that I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF A SERIES! Well, not going to stop in the middle, I’m invested in the story.
I’m from the south and have a curiosity about Appalachia. I really enjoyed this book and the narration accents.
So, here I go to purchase the REST of the series, since it’s not included free. But I’m too anxious to read the rest of the stories to bind it all together.

After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

I love investigative podcasts and this storyline intrigued me. I’m sure I would not have enjoyed it near as much actually reading it as to listening.
The narrators were amazing.
I enjoyed the twists in plot. I really loved the witty sarcasm of Lucy.
I’ll definitely recommend this book.

With this spanning 3 generations, quickly I had to figure out who was which generation. I laughingly thought at one point that I’m going to have to make a family tree and notes to follow what was going on. But just hang in there- it all reveals itself finally. The narration was great.
