Historia
"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Okay
Revisado: 12-02-10
The first three stories were okay, if not a little "gory" in places. The narrator's voice in the final story really irritated me. I wanted to hit the female who was telling her story.

Historia
Outside the house where Wexford investigated his first murder case—a woman found strangled in her bedroom—he noticed a short, muscular man wearing a scarf and walking a dog. He gave Wexford an unnerving stare. Without any solid evidence, Wexford began to suspect that this man—Eric Targo—was the killer. Over the years there are more unsolved, apparently motiveless murders in the town of Kingsmarkham, and Wexford continues to quietly suspect that the increasingly prosperous Targo—van driver, property developer, kennel owner, and animal lover—is behind them.

Really good!
Revisado: 10-26-09
As usual, Scott Brick did an excellent job with the naration. The story itself was very good, I liked (and disliked as required) the characters and was really quite sorry when the story finished. Believable and quite engrossing.

Excellent
Revisado: 08-20-09
I really enjoyed this series. The narrator was excellent and succeeded in conveying the correct amount of drama and slight comedic relief. I was sorry when the book finished, and that doesn't happen very often!

The story itself was okay, but, I found the narrator's accent very distracting. She was good but someone with an appropriate accent would have enabled me to concentrate more on the story line.
