A tough love book, for a specific group of people.
Revisado: 01-26-23
I am unfortunately not in her core demographic I think. It's very much a book for Susie Homemaker and her family. With spiritual religious undertones.
I am not married, not having kids, ADHD and possibly autistic, and don't believe my home's cleanliness should be determined by my need to please my spouse (if I had one). My house's cleanliness is my own journey and I think there are serious issues when you're doing important things only for someone else's joy. Not to mention the cleaning solutions are a lot of suck it up buttercup and just do this or it won't work. Lol, not going to work with a neurodivergent brain.
There are some unique tips in here especially if you have kids. And I will take away what I can, but know what your getting out of this book. I'm glad there's a community out there that's helping lots of people and I hope it continues to. I unfortunately won't be a fly baby myself. And found the rave reviews a bit much after a while. Lol, I'm listening for tips and tricks. Though I understand it's probably a way to make people feel included in the community and since I am not interested it felt like it dragged some.

Give me the mushiness ALL the lovely mushiness!
Revisado: 04-24-19
And the award for my favourite fictional YouTube couple goes to: Sam and Dovid #Dovam
Haha, totally going there. This just hits soooo many things for me that are the perfect storm. M/M, YouTube, online chatting, disability, communication to build a relationship, positivity, self-esteem, the perfect balance of fiction and reality, an accent (great narrating by Sean, totally had me hooked!) passion about doing what you love, ect. This book covers a lot. But it all just works together flawlessly. Even things I sort of don't care for like long distance relationships just worked.
This is not a serious or angsty book, though it covers some deep subjects. In fact purely a light slice of life romance that is all kinds of feels and mushy cuteness but with enough reality to soildly ground it. I would totally be subscribed to both of these guys! I was already fan girling all over the place listening to this. There was a lot of time and research that went into this book and it pays off (though wishing there was just more of it, haha). I really enjoyed this and will definitely listen to it again! And definitely keeping an eye out for this author!

It's all a matter of opinion, but Carter's day is going pretty badly. He's an engineer captured by bug aliens, now depending on his large, muscled, naked cage mates for food and warmth. They seem sentient, so that's good. But they're also handsy. Which is...complicated. The military isn't looking for him. Slaves taken by the bug race never come back. Yet, Carter is very much alive, and if he wants to stay that way, he'll need to trust Pykh and Siel, two affectionate aliens with claws, teeth, and size.

A HUGE fan of Eileen Glass
Revisado: 02-22-19
I'm a huge fan of Eileen Glass. I've pretty much read though almost all of her books on Amazon and am eagerly awaiting the 3rd Pykh book to be released. I LOVE the Pykh series. So when I noticed Audible released one of her books of course it instantly went into my library. Took a little getting used to the narrator, narrating all the characters because they sounded different in my head. But it didn't take long.
I usually am not the biggest fan of threesoms. But the way Eileen writes her characters you become invested into their lives. Each one has their own unique characteristics. And you can feel the mutual trust, respect, and love they feel for each other. And her world building is just plain epic. And the way her characters react in their situation and the world they live in. It's all just sucks you in and makes you root for them. It is the perfect balance of real, fantasy, and romance. HIGHLY recommend! And I hope Audible comes out with more of her work!

Thank you audible for listening to my request for this series! I've already read the first 10 books (and am working on the rest). But it was a nice treat to go back to the beginning! And getting to listen to it this time around was a bonus!
This is a romance first and foremost so the bones that make a romance a romance are all there in this book (and for the whole series). However, there is plenty of SiFi and alien world goodness as well. And trust me it only gets better throughout the rest of the series. Ruby has some magnificent story telling abilities and it really shines through here. With strong but human leading women. Who though fierce and brave in their own rights still have moments of weakness like any human would. But then they pick themselves up and move on. Gotta love it. And their big blue alien hunks are one of a kind. And I REALLY want to massage/ pet one, because I am a touchy feely person and they feel like suede and that is just so awesome. Hmmm.
Back on track. The narrators did a fantastic job! I was wondering how they would handle the language barrier that happens during the story (because obviously contrary to what many books print we as humans do not speak alien languages). They did a fantastic job with the whole language issue. Especially Mason. Mmmmm. I think I have a new favourite narrator. Mason has a super yummy voice in this book and I could listen to it all day long.
Can't wait for the rest of this series! Highly recommend!

A fun listen
Revisado: 11-14-17
I would definitely categorize this book as a YA/ New Adult book. The mc's are all fairly young and they act young. But they aren't so overly dramatic as to be irritating. There is plenty of swooning and fawning and growing done though. With a young woman as the main lead character that just goes with the territory. That said, there is plenty of action and adventure in this book to keep one entertained. And the characters are well thought out. We get to know them throughout the story as time goes by. There's no big info dump right off the bat. This is old school story telling, where you pick up info as you go along.
Personally I love how the author writes. He's style is very lyrical and poetic, with (actually funny) humour sprinkled here and there. A style I am very fond of and it is done well here. This is a fairytale type story, with plenty of Royalty and war mongers. Plus some very interesting cultures thrown in. There is quite a few different cultures actually. All of whom I enjoyed. Some wonderful world building going on. With some extremely detailed descriptions at points. Makes me wish I could fly on dragon back to these lands! I guess listening via audiobook will have to suffice ;)
The narrator has a nice voice. She does very well keeping me engaged and in the stories plot. So kudos to her.
All in all I enjoyed the story and can't wait to listen to Marc Seccia's other dragon books!

Historia
All Rath wants is a quiet, peaceful life. Unfortunately, his father brings him too much trouble - and too many debts to pay - for that to ever be possible. When the local crime lord drags Rath out of bed and tells him he has three days to pay his father's latest debt, Rath doesn't know what to do. There's no way to come up with so much money in so little time. Then a friend poses an idea just ridiculous enough to work: enter the Tournament of Losers, where every 75 years, peasants compete for the chance to marry into the noble and royal houses.

Why You Must Read This Story!
Revisado: 08-18-16
* The cover threw me. I admit that more often then not I am drawn to a book more by a pretty cover then anything else. And while it is a beautiful cover, it reminded me more of a Japanese horror story then the MxM Romance it claimed to be. Fear not, it is indeed a what it claims to be, although there is a little action, adventure, and whit thrown in to keep things interesting.
* Ok, so let just get this out of the way, yes this is another book with the trope about a contest to win the perfect guy of your dreams (it's even royalty in this one). I've read/ listened to a lot of stories with the same plot. However, this one shocked me with how skilfully woven the plot became. The elements where a bit predictable most of the time but overall there was more then enough originality worked into the best parts of this trope to make it absolutely addictive. The characters (main and supporting) where all relatable and likeable. The world was exquisite and I really felt like I could get lost in the details. My only complaint is that I loved it all so much I wish there could have been more! I wish some events that where left out where actually told. And that some details where fleshed out a bit more. That probably would have doubled the length of the book, but I wouldn't have minded that one bit. In fact I know I'll be listening to this one over and over again. For some reason it hits that comfort read spot for me... Plus I have a great new author to keep an eye on!
*As to the narration Michael Stellman did a great job! He got me caught up in the story and wouldn't let me leave till it was done.
In my opinion it's worth whatever you can use to get it. Credit, whispersync, or sale. Just go listen to this awesomeness!

Great short stories, off narration
Revisado: 07-05-16
I really did like these 2 stories they where really cute and a great way to spend an evening all snuggled up. Don't let the weird cover turn you away. It really gives off the wrong vibes for these romances. The cover feels more horror, when they're really not that scary. Of course my complaint being I wish both where longer and their own novels. That way they could both be fleshed out and the worlds explored fully and more satisfactorily. However I feel like they where both really good short stories. So it is what it is.
BUT I did have an issue with the sound quality of the tract. Not so much the narrator who did a decent job. Though I did think he did a better job in the second story. No it was the echo tinyish sound coming from the narrator's speech. Not sure if it was on purpose to play up the horror feel they where getting at, but it drove me a little crazy. Not enough to not listen, but it would yank me out of the story at points.
So for the whispersync price definitely give it a go. Though listen to the sample to make sure you're all good with the sound.

My name is Jamie Atwood, and I'm an addict. I never thought I'd say such a thing. Never had a problem being overly attached to anything in my life. I came from a perfectly middle-class family, made good grades, and had a hot cheerleader girlfriend...but the truth is, nothing ever really moved me. So how did a guy like me become an addict? I met Michael Kage. Kage is an MMA fighter. A famous one. I like to think I helped him get that way.

Be Warned
Revisado: 06-20-16
This series is freaking awesome. Absolutely engrossing. Just wow. There are no words.
I admit I did get frustrated with the main characters quite a few times for angst that is everywhere in these books. I tell you your heart will be shredded. But somehow just when I think, "There is no way they are going to do this because of a misunderstanding..." Bam something happens I totally did not see coming and I'm lost in this wonderful, horrible, lovely, gritty, cuddly, sad world. Jeez my heart is going to be stitched together with duck tape and floss. That is just how amazing this story is.
Not to mention the narrator. Ya, I could listen to his voice all day long just because it's that awesome. His voices for Cage and Jamie where so perfect it hurt. And when he brought the heat to a love scene it was panty melting.
****All that said I totally recommend this series. Hands down so worth every penny. HOWEVER you must have ALL three books before you start reading/ listening, because the cliff hangers at the end are absolute murder. Seriously. MURDER. You will die if you do not heed my warning! I know cliffies are hated by many but this series is worth it. You won't be disappointed if your a MxM romance fan.****

To Buy or Not to Buy
Revisado: 06-02-16
🎮 If you have never touched a real computer or video game in your life, DO NOT get this book. (This does not include the little app games on your phone or tablet) 🎮 You will not understand a word of what is going on. This book is super heavy in gamer lingo. If you do not know what noob, grind, NPC, PK, or what stats mean in a game, but still enjoy gaming and want to give this book a go, then spend time reading a extensive gamer terms and phrases website. And at least know what is involved in RPG and MMORPG. Otherwise you'll be lost.
I have grown up around all kinds of video games. I have family and friends who are very heavy into RPG on other online games. I myself enjoy some light RPG every now and then. Plus I've seen a few anime and manga with the whole gamer world theme (LOVED "1/2 Prince") So I have a better then average understanding. I had to go read up on terms to get through this one. Other then that here are a few other deciding factors that may affect your choice on getting this audio book (you'll see this one is for a very select group of readers, so decide for yourself if it'll work for you):
1) This may not be the book for you if you hate repetitive phrases, or pigs (there are plenty of both). I feel pigs are a theme, and I found a weirdly quirky humor in it. I like pigs btw ;)
2) I am a girl. In my early 20's. Previous history with games and the like, including anime and manga, mentioned above. I understand and have excepted the misogynistic, sexist, and well sexual way women are portrayed in such media. Doesn't mean I agree with it. But it comes with the territory. This is no exception to the rule so far. There is a few wince worthy moments of it, that came across as a little too blatant. Nothing that would stop me from this series though. Just expect ditzy scantily dressed girls with abnormally huge chest measurements. Though actual sex is not really described. More of a suggestion then fade to black, and que next scene. Maybe (hopefully) more female character development in the next books, though lack of decent clothing still likely.
3) Stats. Stats. And more STATS. If you do not enjoy the normal journey of the video game including grinding and reading stats, this may be a little much for you. Lol, I love that part of games (yes I'm that weirdo). This book spends a majority of itself going over stats, and grinding adventures, with a few quests sprinkled throughout. Like basically watching someone play a game. Great for when you want that reality without actually having to play the game. Unless you'd rather play the game yourself...
4) Unless you could care less, this one requires a lot of attention. In order to keep up with what the heck is going on you really need to listen carefully. Otherwise when you toon back in nothing makes sense. I had to rewind a few times to catch what happened.
There is an actual story with a plot in the midst of all of this. And truth be told I actually really liked it. I found it vastly entertaining. Though it left me with a strong urge to game (for some odd reason Harvest Moon really came to mind to play). There's sarcastic wit, a little politics, some moral quandaries, and plenty of good old fashioned RPG action, all wrapped in an intriguing concept.
The narrator Goldstrom does a really great job of keeping the story flowing. With all of the many characters and stats he had a tough nut to crack. But he passed remarkably well, making it so easy to get yourself lost in the virtual reality. There are a few mispronounced words, but easy enough to oversee.
I look forward to the rest of this series. And I definitely recommend if you are one of the lucky few who know that this book was made for you.
