Historia
After years of avoiding each other, Daisy Darker’s entire family is assembling for Nana’s 80th birthday party in Nana’s crumbling gothic house on a tiny tidal island. Finally back together one last time, when the tide comes in, they will be cut off from the rest of the world for eight hours. The family arrives, each of them harboring secrets. Then at the stroke of midnight, as a storm rages, Nana is found dead. And an hour later, the next family member follows…

Decent book
Revisado: 06-14-24
I really enjoyed the back stories, although the narrator way over acted. I would have preferred someone to just read me the book with a little bit of inflection here and there not a complete acting of the book, if that makes sense. I would recommend reading this one instead of listening.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

Kept me intrigued

The story has twists, but isn’t exactly original. The narrator read Enzo, the Italian, with a Russian accent. Overall I enjoyed this book.

Historia
Little River, New York, 1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won in a poker game. Failing out of school, picking up shifts at a local diner, she’s left fending for herself in a town where she’s never quite felt at home. When she “borrows” her neighbor’s car to perform at an open mic night, she realizes her life could be much bigger than where she came from. After a fight with her dad, April packs her stuff and leaves for good, setting off on a journey to find a life that’s all hers.

Pretty good, loved most of it
Revisado: 09-19-21
I really enjoyed this book except for the bits when the “bad luck“ comes from just not communicating. I can even tolerate “bad luck“ when it’s the result of bad decisions.
Also, as a grandmother who has a grandson named December, I’m quite offended! ;) (joke, I’m not offended)

Historia
The potato hack was modeled after an 1849 diet plan for people that were becoming fat and "dyspeptic" from living too luxuriously. This potato diet simply called for one to eat nothing but potatoes for a few days at a time, promising that fat men become as "lean as they ought to be." One hundred and sixty-seven years later, we are fatter and sicker than ever, but the potato diet still works. Potatoes contains natural drug-like agents that affect inflammation, hunger, insulin, sleep, dreams, mood, and body weight.

Where's the PDF?
Revisado: 03-05-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I love the concept... mono meal to break food addictions. I lost weight, I never lose weight. This plan works. BUT WHERE IS THE PDF?!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Potato Hack?
Seriously, this is not a new concept to me, but I loved listening to it for motivation to stick to spuds.
What does Matthew Boston bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His reading style is great! Positive...
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
no movie, please ;)
Any additional comments?
I would like a PDF for the recipes.

Fantastic!!
Revisado: 01-27-17
This is such a heart warming story. Yes there are downs, but they are completely countered with all the ups. A couple of the premises are a little far-fetched, but it's nice to ponder that it could be real. The performance by George K Wilson is outstanding! When you finish this book, make sure you listen to A Dog's Journey! The story continues...

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Incredible
Revisado: 01-18-17
I can relate to this book so much, if only on a smaller scale. I had the same type of mother, and she had a lot of the same challenges, and continued to be strong when she needed to and weak when she couldn't. I'm also a halfbreed, so I never feel to completely fit in on either side. I found it to be quite fantastic

Historia
Meet the Cooke family: Mother and Dad, brother Lowell, sister Fern, and Rosemary, who begins her story in the middle. She has her reasons. “I was raised with a chimpanzee”, she explains. “I tell you Fern was a chimp and already you aren’t thinking of her as my sister. But until Fern’s expulsion...she was my twin, my funhouse mirror, my whirlwind other half and I loved her as a sister”. As a child, Rosemary never stopped talking. Then, something happened, and Rosemary wrapped herself in silence.

After getting back from a French Polynesian trip, a friend recommended this book to me. It was wonderful, and I had a sense of a lot of this while we were there. Of course you never quite understand what is going on behind the scenes, but all of this made so much sense to me, and I could feel the nostalgia

The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

still not sure
Revisado: 03-27-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'm not sure if I would recommend it... it was good, but I was annoyed at times. I'm not sure if this came before or after Gone Girl, but I felt like I was listening to the same book (or a copy of it)
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rachel... she was the only character with any redeeming qualities.
