Historia
When Katie Bender's fiance died in a tragic accident, so did her hope of finding love. Though heartbroken, Katie is also practical. In the years since the accident she has discovered her gift for teaching. But when a tornado destroys her small Amish settlement, including the schoolhouse, Katie doesn't know how she will provide for herself. Seth Stutzman arrived in Hope Falls days before the storm. And when he helps usher Katie and the children to safety, sparks fly. But Seth is only in town to help his brother, Amos, get back on his feet following the death of his wife.

A good story of God's care and protection
Revisado: 04-11-21
I enjoyed all three books in the "Angel" series. Each one had a different way for the angel to interact with the characters, and each got me thinking about how God guides and cares for us, and also protects us from Satan and his schemes. Elias was a heartwarming character in this story who appeared at just the right times for Seth and Rachel, and Seth's family, too. My husband has dyslexia and I am a speech path who works in the schools, so I could relate to the difficulty in their relationship and to Seth's insecurities. I would love to have sequels to continue to follow the characters, especially for the second book, where the man was English and became Amish to marry Rachel. We get glimpses in each book of the previous characters, but I would like more! I will definitely look for novels by Rachel Reid. The reader still pauses at the wrong places occasionally but has improved greatly since the first book.

Historia
A buggy-racing champion, a hardworking field-hand, and a terrible cook, Rachel Hartzler does not fit her Amish community's standards for an eligible bride. Hurt by their rejection and still grieving the loss of her brother, Rachel is ready for change. She's not, however, ready for Jordan Engles. Rachel's father hired him to help tend the fields so Rachel can learn to cook and sew, thus increasing her chances of finding a husband. She can't understand why her father doesn't want her help and blames Jordan for trying to replace her beloved brother.

A wonderful story - stick with it!
Revisado: 03-07-21
I really enjoyed witnessing the transformations of Jordan and Rachel. This author has a great way of letting us in to the thoughts and hearts of her characters so that we feel we know them. They change slowly as the story evolves, so their actions don't seem sudden or unnatural. At first, I wasn't sure about the conversations between the angel and demon, but it really got me thinking about how close God really is to us and how He takes care of us. It became a natural part of the story and not intrusive. This story helped me feel God's comfort and presence in my own life. Can't wait to read the next one!

Historia
Amanda Dienner hasn't spoken a word to her Old Order mother or twin sister in five years when she receives word that her mother has passed away and left her Lancaster County's most popular Amish bed-and-breakfast. Now an Englisher, Mandy is shocked: Her sister should have been the obvious choice! But because this is all her controlling mother's doing, of course there's a catch, and Mandy soon learns that the farmhouse inn will only truly be hers if she is able to successfully run it for one year.

Wonderfully written; likable characters; beautiful message
Revisado: 02-02-18
I cried when it ended. It unfolded so slowly and skillfully that before I realized it, I had become attached to the characters and the inn. I truly feel like I have been there and chatted with Mandy and Trina at the kitchen table, and I will miss them. It was calm and slow, no moments of "hold onto your seat" drama, but it left me with the message to take every day as it is and to trust God when things don't go as I expect, and to look for the blessings, which has helped me process the last year of my life. The narrator's voice is not the best for portraying young women, but she is a skillful performer.
