Much better than unabridged version
Revisado: 04-27-25
I bought the abridged version after listening to the unabridged because I wanted to see what I would have missed.
The unabridged version reads like someone's diary; a lot of unnecessary information that doesn't affect the story one way or the other.
Alan Cumming of course is wonderful and can make anything worth listening to...
Even a "vampire story" that is 3/4 the main character Vittorio as a human.

Abridged is better
Revisado: 04-27-25
I bought the abridged version after listening to this because I wanted to see what I would have missed.
The unabridged version reads like someone's diary; a lot of unnecessary information that doesn't affect the story one way or the other.
The narrator has a great voice, he also read The Vampire Armond if memory serves, but again the abridged is where my heart is at.

Historia
Labeled variously a realistic story of whaling, a romance of unusual adventure and eccentric characters, a symbolic allegory, and a drama of heroic conflict, Moby Dick is first and foremost a great story. It has both the humor and poignancy of a simple sea ballad, as well as the depth and universality of a grand odyssey.

Great narrative... when it's happening
Revisado: 09-26-24
I really enjoyed the narrative though ever time something exciting happens it seems that the recording would start acting up.
It's also pretty entertaining to hear the different names and anatomy of the whales according when this was written. A lot has changed.
