For anyone who likes true crime and especially the early 80s drug trade in South Florida, Ted Pryor’s story ticks a lot of boxes. Having just listened to the entire book in one go, I have to say Sal Viscuso’s performance is what kept me glued to it. Although this book is an honest look at the ins and outs of a self made fighter, turned smuggler, turned convict, turned legitimate entrepreneur with questionable life lessons about self discipline, having an honor code (of sorts), friends on both sides of the law and the benefits of white privilege in south Florida’s judicial system, Sal Viscuso’s emotional sincerity made Ted Pryor’s journey more personal and relatable if not sympathetic. Shedding light on one of the biggest drug busts in history - any fan of Miami Vice, Breaking Bad and the Soprano’s will feel right at home. I am so glad I listened to it.
