Too busy
Revisado: 01-10-25
The overwhelming numbers of characters and players are way too many to keep track of them. All over the place. After 6 hours I lost interest. Did not finish and returned it for a refund.

Way too political and did not hold my interest.
Revisado: 12-23-24
Wish the story stuck with the 2 boys that has been at school together. The politics are overdone and unfortunately
I have no desire to complete the chronicles. It really began so well.

When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Excellent Read
Revisado: 12-23-24
This book is so beautifully written and narrated, it was a real pleasure to listen to. Yes, the awful things that happen to Jim are atrocious and hateful but he stays positive throughout the entire story. It is history and should be made known to the world. I really hope that we do not ever go back to those days but hatred is a very powerful emotion. Thank you for the reality check of life from the point of view of a slave.

The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide… Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

Truth and love
Revisado: 07-13-24
I began this book thinking it was about Elizabeth Taylor and to my surprise, it was nowhere near that. It is a great book and I really enjoyed it. Movies in the 50s, 60s and 70s where women were objectified and blamed for men’s desire for women, regardless of who got hurt. Love will find a way.

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Too long and didn’t end well
Revisado: 07-12-23
The story went on too long and the crime, while solved, didn’t punish the true wrong doer. Irish places mispronounce with the English accent. Kinda disappointing in the long run unfortunately

Revisado: 12-07-22
The Irish police, messed up in so many ways beginning with the crime scene. However, the French do not respect the work that the Irish cops put in. Occam’s Razor would indicate that Ian Bailey is guilty in that the most obvious answer is the correct answer. We’ll put together and very intriguing. See Netflix is being sued by the partner of Ian Bailey.

Very nicely written and performed
Revisado: 02-10-22
Ireland was supposed to be neutral in WWII but the City of Dublin was bombed in 1941. However Sarah was unwittingly pulled in the war. Her courage and determination got her through some tough situations and she would prevail in her desire to hit back at the enemy, which isn't always the Germans. Loved the book.

Disappointing
Revisado: 08-12-21
I had heard about this book from a newspaper and I really thought it would be interesting, given the title. The woman was indeed well educated but a real push over when it came to her husband. Motherhood sounded like a life sentence. It was only when her mother-in-law spoke honestly to her that she caught on.
