If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A timeless story
Any additional comments?
I'm so glad I followed the advice of other listeners and "read the book already". I loved it. I cared for the every one of the characters and enjoyed having them in my mind as I listened/drove 12 hours.

Historia
Hildy Good is a townie. A lifelong resident of a small community on the rocky coast of Boston's North Shore, she knows pretty much everything about everyone. And she's good at lots of things, too. A successful real-estate broker, mother, and grandmother, her days are full. But her nights have become lonely ever since her daughters, convinced their mother was drinking too much, sent her off to rehab. Now she's in recovery—more or less.

Best listen in a long time!
Revisado: 11-04-13
Would you listen to The Good House again? Why?
I loved this book. I am more likely to recommend than I am to re-listen but I found myself telling people about it so that they could enjoy it.
What did you like best about this story?
The main character is so down the earth and likable. Just seemed so very. I felt like I "knew" her.
What does Mary Beth Hurt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is just so vibrant. So believable and just really came to life.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It reminded me of a functioning alcoholic whom I know and provided me with insight as to what her life may be like when no one is around.

Historia
Catherine has been enjoying the single life for long enough to know a good catch when she sees one. Gorgeous, charismatic, spontaneous – Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. And her friends clearly agree, as each in turn falls under his spell. But there is a darker side to Lee. His erratic, controlling and sometimes frightening behaviour means that Catherine is increasingly isolated. Driven into the darkest corner of her world, and trusting no one, she plans a meticulous escape.

Enjoyable and Spooky
Revisado: 11-04-13
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, you felt the tensions rise and I like the "sliding-doors" (movie) sort of plot of before/after being told at the same time.
Have you listened to any of David Thorpe and Karen Cass ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No but I love her accent!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did become attached to the main character. I felt like she could be a friend.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Sort of a let-down
Revisado: 11-04-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was a good listen and I'm glad I finished it, and I liked the use of the characters and the 80's setting. I've read better from Grisham so I was a bit disappointed, especially after all the positive reviews.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It made sense. I like how it turned out, actually it provided closure.

Historia
The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Way too long and not exciting enough
Revisado: 02-01-13
What disappointed you about The Litigators?
Unlike the last Grisham novel I read, which drew me in and kept my interest from start to finish with suspense and enough action to keep me interested, this started out like it would be a cool story but then it just dragged with not enough suspense or excitement. It seemed to give a play-by-play when a summation would have worked in certain areas.
Would you ever listen to anything by John Grisham again?
Yes
Would you listen to another book narrated by Dennis Boutsikaris?
Sure
What character would you cut from The Litigators?
None
Any additional comments?
I was glad when it was over.

Disappointing compared to first novel
Revisado: 01-07-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was better than listening to nothing but I wasn't as eager to listen as I normally am with a good book.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I hate to say it but it wasn't interesting enough. I chose the book because I loved the author's previous book.
Was A Year and Six Seconds worth the listening time?
I guess if you are in the mood for a descriptive story of a women's finding love after divorce.
Any additional comments?
I LOVED "Happens Every Day" by Isabelle Gillies. Listen to that instead.

Not Bad, an Easy Listen
Revisado: 12-06-12
What did you like best about 10th Anniversary? What did you like least?
Having listened to this entire series, this one was good but a little bit flat compared to other novels in the series. The story-line was a bit lacking but overall, it was easy to listen to, especially if you are already familiar with the "women's murder club".
Would you be willing to try another book from James Patterson and Maxine Paetro ? Why or why not?
Yes, probably since I like the series overall.
