This is in my top 5 military thrillers of all time! Each novel in the series gets better and better. With the plots, character development, and military accuracy, Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson are on top of their game! Please, start the Tier 1 series if you haven't already. This novel hit all my emotions and perfectly set up the next one in the series. Ray Porter is outstanding as always!
I CAN'T WAIT for the next one!

Ive listened too or read everything Gregg Hurwitz has published and with Out of the Dark, he has definitely outdone himself. There are 0 flaws here in my opinion. The action, suspense, and drama are all woven in perfectly. Hurwitz has a knack for writing and especially for creating connections between the reader and the characters. Not to mention, the great Scott Brick narrating makes the whole thing even better. The characters depth and emotional dialogue is deep and there are alot of tearjerker scenes that make this story more than just a badass assassin novel. The detailed descriptions and imagery of real life places show that Hurwitz has definitely done his research in preparation for this novel. Evan Smoak is back with a vengeance to finish what was started. I have never seen him be so brutal, yet so caring at the same time. With the amount of assassin characters and novels out there, Evan Smoak and the Orphan X series definitely stands on its own under the masterful storytelling of Mr. Gregg Hurwitz!

With The Night Agent, Matthew Quirk has crafted a fresh spy thriller with a uniquely written plot that keeps your interest from the 1st chapter. I also enjoyed that the hero of the story, Peter Sutherland, was just a by the book, low level FBI agent working his way out of his father's dark shadow. He seemed like just an average joe. He's not Jason Bourne or Mitch Rapp. He's not a trained killer and we get to follow him as he's thrust into situations he's never been in before. Its nice to see that every now and then in this genre. That being said, If I had one complaint, it would be that I feel the characters were not developed enough for my liking. I didnt see myself caring about them as much as i feel i should have. That's just me though. Others might feel differently and thats great. Overall, it was a very solid thriller from Mr. Quirk and I definitely look forward to reading/listening more from him in the future!

What a series debut! Im new to Simon Gervais. This was my first read from him and i wasnt disappointed. Mitch Rapp, Dewey Andreas, Court Gentry and Victor the Assassin. Those are my favorite characters in the Military/Assassin action thriller genre! It's still early, but I can easily see Pierce Hunt joining those ranks. He's different from them though. While the other guys are all assassins or CIA black ops guys, Hunt is a DEA agent. An ex Army Ranger whose daughter gets kidnapped by one of the most feared drug cartel leaders in the world...wrong move! Nothing motivates a father more than his little girl being in danger and Hunt, even as a DEA and law enforcement officer will do absolutely anything and kill anyone to save his girl!
Mr. Gervais does an excellent job showing you who Hunt is; his strengths, weaknesses, his past mistakes, passions and love for his daughter. He shows that Hunt is a human being and like everyone, he has skeletons in his closet. As an Army 11B OIFIII combat veteran and father of 2 beautiful little girls, i can relate to Hunt and his motivation in so many ways it's unreal. As expected, since Mr. Gervais was an Infantry officer and federal agent, he does an amazing job with his descriptions of weapons and intense combat situations. Just one brief example; I get very angry when i read a military thriller and the author uses the word clips instead of magazine. Its sloppy writing and sloppy research in my opinion. Well, none of that in here. Mr. Gervais knows his stuff! The combat and tactical situations are top notch! This novel has the feel of Taken mixed with Don Winslow's Power of the Dog series, yet, Mr. Gervais at the same time makes it his own and unique. What could have been a stale and overused plot and premise was used in a fresh and exciting way. Also, i cant remember an action thriller hitting me so hard emotionally as this one. The brutality and true evil of the world and some human beings is shown in very good detail.
All in all, an outstanding debut of a new action hero that we can relate to. A violent, truthful, accurate novel that will make you want to kick ass but at other times tear up. Happiness to sadness...the emotions are all engaged in this thriller! The next Hunt will be this year and I can't wait!

Mr. Rosenberg has done it again! Two men bred to be enemies from two different worlds, work together to stop WWIII!

Character development was excellent! Comparable to some long Stephen king novels. Only, this novel wasnt 40 hours long.

The life stories from both protagonists were unmatched...and then came the espionage and action that was suspenseful and hard hitting.

The Kremlin Conspiracy seemed like 4 genres in 1. It constantly had coming of age and friendship, drama, espionage, action/thriller...WOW! Definitely my favorite from 2018. Cant wait for THE PERSIAN GAMBLE. Keep it up Joel C. Rosenberg

The amount of detail and research that went into this novel is astonishing! Ledger is a tier 1 badass, Ray Porter narrates flawlessly, and Maberry may be one of the most underrated authors in action right now!
