One word - Boring!

Maybe it's just me since there are a lot of good reviews, but whereas I book 1, this came off as a long string of factual accounts with nithing noteworthy to remember. Won't be keeping this one.

What made the experience of listening to Koban, Book 1 the most enjoyable?
The Science and Believability.

I'm now on book 4 and still enjoying this series. The narrator is great and the sound file is mixed properly. Every narrator should understand the importance of compressors and limiters being applied to sound files, and clearly, this one does. It has been a pleasure on the ears.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I just hated this. I wanted to like it, I tried to like it, I was persistent, hoping at some point it would be redeemed, but I just hated it. Largely because of the reader's vocal mannerisms, but also because of the authors choice of words and phrases for various situations. The story line was confusing for me from the beginning but what actually got me vocally irritated was that it kept on striking me as a bate and switch for a woman's erotic novel disguised as a sci-fi.

Any additional comments?
If you were taught Erasmian pronunciation as I was, this is very difficult to use. I cannot determine what the spelling is from the phonetic sound used and so have to think of all the possibilities on the fly. Not a good solution for listening while driving.
