Wish there was a Part 3!
Revisado: 04-22-25
Such a great spin off. Katherine and Winston are such great narrators bringing all the characters to life. So messy! I can’t believe all of these things went down and these girls weren’t even 18 or 21! Wish there was a part 3 but only because I love these characters. The story lines were tied up nicely.

5 star read 3 star narration (the female narrator was annoying)
Revisado: 04-18-25
Ladii is now one of my favorite authors. All of her characters are multi dimensional even the side characters. No one is perfect and that brings so much to the story, Rah is such a sweet soul so glad he now has a family that loves him. I also like Taylor this is how plus sized characters should be written. I was afraid it was going to be a bunch of self hating monologues but my girl was thick and confident. I just wish she had different female narrator. Anna Lynn Wright sounds like she has peanut butter at the roof of her mouth and empathizes her ts for no reason. I was aggravating. Chance Smolders is so good at delivering one liners he did well. There was so much going on in this book but it was a slow burn with crazy exes, jealous family and generational secrets. Never a dull moment.

5/5 The Twist was whoah
Revisado: 04-14-25
This was a great listen. Heartbreaking but also heartwarming and suspenseful. Evenie is reunited with her husband and daughter after being kidnapped for 10 freaking years. The only thing is her husband is engaged. I think Erica Lynne’s voice narration was perfect for Ev and JY Kora was perfect as the fiancée. Of course Ev isn’t going to be bubbly or lively after being held hostage for 10 years. And Winston James is always the best pick for the male lead. I really like Kimberly Brown. This was my 3rd book reading from her catalog.

Bailey Followhill is the perfect daughter. Sweet. Charitable. Pretty. Control freak. Not a hair out of place, not an inch out of line, she is everything her troublemaking sister Daria isn't. But when her A game turns out to be a lukewarm C- at Juilliard, Bailey's picture-ready life starts fraying faster than the worn satin ribbons of her pointe shoes. She's becoming a piece of gossip. The troubled child. A drug abuser. No longer the girl her best friend once knew.

I Almost Skipped Because of Savannah Peachwood
Revisado: 04-13-25
I hated Savannah’s narration in Vicious and as Rosie. The drawn out Southern accent enraged me but as Bailey it was like night and day omg. What a relief because she narrates so many books. Aiden’s voice seemed way too deep for Lev and I know he has a regular mode so I’m not sure why he chose the dark romance route. Lev and Bailey’s relationship was so messy but so good. I love them as characters and as a couple. I know Mel will be relieved when the girls turn 30 sheesh. 5 stars across the board.

It was pretty boring
Revisado: 04-12-25
I don’t know what it was but it felt like the outline of a book. It needed more fleshing out. I had no attachment to any of the characters. They were two dimensional with little to no development. The exes could have easily added more tension and action to the story. I probably won’t bother to read the rest of the series,

Kyce Jefferson understood change. His life had been a continuous reminder that nothing lasts forever. However, his one constant had always been football. Women come and go but the Chicago Bears was his team, his home, and his life. Being traded was the last thing he expected or wanted.

Such a Sweet Read
Revisado: 04-10-25
I needed a break from my urban fiction reads especially when I was wondering why every argument in this book wasn’t solved with violence lol. Kyce is my new book crush. I could really relate to Iyoni and her tendency to run or pop off. Kyce definitely handled it and everyone in their life. His bond with her son was heartwarming and he was such a leader on the field. Such a sweet story but not boring at all despite the lack of drivebys lol

10/10 Emotional Roller Coaster
Revisado: 04-08-25
This is my first time reading a Jahquel J. series and I’m ready to start another lol Such a great storyteller. I love how her characters are human and flawed. No knights or damsels. No one is perfect and no one is a true villain. Like Jia was flawed and a hot mess but glad she got what she wanted. So happy for Mama V after everything she’s been through. And even Yves and her relapse I’m glad she finally got help and support. Can’t wait to read Juleena’s series. I’m not usually a fan of teens but I really liked her and RJ.

A tragic beginning to life led Jah and Shauka Disciple to homelessness and poverty at such a young age that they grew into men before their time. Yet, they turned their hunger, abandonment, and suffering into diamonds, mansions, and power. The natural hustler instinct they’d inherited from their father was their driving force. Yet, this story starts when Messiah turns 18 and is finally freed from his adoptive parents. Reluctantly, he leaves his twin sister behind as he, Jah, and Shauka run the streets and break yearning hearts along the way.

These Guys Are So Corny-Terrible Series
Revisado: 04-06-25
How is Jah the head of a powerful drug organization? He acts like he’s Messiah’s age. How do you not know your friend is on drugs and that he’s a threat to not only your business but you and your brothers’ lives. So damn goofy. Guess I’ve been spoiled by Shvonne Latrice because her male character would have helped Moe get rid of the foster dad who harmed him. At least Benjamin Charles’s voice is great. I wish he changed up the voices for each brother. Nicole Small’s male voice was terrible she sounded like an 80 year old man sucking on Whethers candy. And she didn’t vary the different voices which was irritating. Why were there so many POVs? I read the other 2 books in the series but couldn’t rate them because I kept skipping Nijah’s parts. Her storyline was so unnecessary combined with Nicole Smalls weird whistling speech it was unbearable.

Definitely My Favorite Series from Shvonne.
Revisado: 03-31-25
Wow I was blown out the water by this series but I definitely have to read something softer because I was way too okay with them unaliving everyone that got in their way.
These were not just “strong” FMCs that would fight or yell at people coming after them or the women coming after their partners. They were shooters. Well Lyle was. The way Troy simply added “kill Lawrence” to her to do list was actually wild.
Lyle is still my favorite followed by Bryce. Lyle had guns in her clutch and was literally kicking ass in spiked heels!
Skipped Troy’s parts during my first listen but just listened to her parts she grew on me but not my cup of tea. I really liked August and how he took care of his dad. I also finally forgave Keyoun, he earned it. Glad Joey got her ish together but I would never take ANY type of dating or relationship advice from her for eternity.
If it wasn’t for Lyle Joey and Troy wouldn’t have anything. They’re not thankful enough for me 😒Hope their father comes to his senses because these girls are tougher than a lot of men.
Felt bad about John, Jah, Hazel, & Jake.
Definitely one of my favorites from Shavonne. Would love more characters like Lyle. Great narration as well. Anything without Georgie Kimble or Anna Lynn Wright is good with me. Katherine Dollison and Winston James did a great job.
