Historia
Roland Ford - once a cop, then a marine, now a private investigator - is good at finding people. But when he’s asked to locate an Air Force veteran who’s escaped from a mental institution, he realizes he’s been drawn into something deep and dark. What he doesn’t know is why a shroud of secrecy hangs over the disappearance of Clay Hickman - and why he’s getting a different story from everyone involved. In a flash, what began as just a job becomes a life-or-death obsession for Ford.

Did not enjoy this book. Listening to descriptions of torture is not my idea of amusement.

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Horrible narrator
Revisado: 04-21-18
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I wasn't able to finish it the narrator was so bad.
If you’ve listened to books by Michael Connelly before, how does this one compare?
I have loved every other Michael Connelly book that I have read and/or listened to, but the narrator on this one was so bad I just couldn't finish it. I will order a print copy or Kindle and read it myself.
Would you be willing to try another one of Katherine Moennig’s performances?
NEVER!
Do you think The Late Show needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Don't know yet.
Any additional comments?
This review is incomplete because I couldn't tolerate the narrator any more.

I hate the music.
Revisado: 12-11-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Michael Connelly at his best.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I don't think the narrator is very good, even if he is the actor who plays Bosch in the amazon series. His dialects sound fake, and he reads the voices of every character the same..
Any additional comments?
I hate the musical transitions. It adds NOTHING to the story and is very annoying. A musical score is great for a film. NOT needed for the book.
