Historia
The machine races demand a turn at the job, but the organics refuse to allow it. For more than a century, the Galactics have battled for supreme power. War and instability reign in place of peace, with every species spread over a hundred billion stars suffering as the Empire decays. James McGill discovers a scheme is underway. A new power is rising, determined to snatch the Throne from all the rest. Will this unite the Galactic Empire, or destroy it utterly?

Yet again another great adventure of James McGill.
I am enjoying the slow progression of the underlying plot or evolution of the the galactic politics as earth slowly beces a more prominent player on the galactic stage.

Historia
Minor Universe 31 is a vast story-space on the outskirts of fiction, where paradox fluctuates like the stock market, lonely sexbots beckon failed protagonists, and time travel is serious business. Every day, people get into time machines and try to do the one thing they should never do: change the past. That’s where Charles Yu, time travel technician—part counselor, part gadget repair man—steps in. He helps save people from themselves. Literally.

incoherent rambling.
Revisado: 07-20-24
I feel like this book is what you get when a 12 year old kid throws together sentences made from random words or terms pulled at random from a large stack of college textbooks.
The author constantly contradicts himself.
When describing his time machine he states that it's wide enough to reach his arm out and put palms against the opposite side, and l9ng enough to lie down comfortably and that is how he sleeps. Then in the next paragraph he said he is getting out of shape because his time machine is not big enough to do a push-up in. Universe 31 is described as not quite big enough for a space oppera but then it's described as only the size of a city. This book is total nonsense. I read the whole book trying to f8nd out if the author was perhaps trying to make some point or have the main character go through some self discovery. but alast the book is total nonsense.

a very good read
Revisado: 03-07-23
Found it very interesting how a book written almost 50 years ago can ce so relevant even today. The philosophy, politics, inner human conflicts, and marital relations. Struggles and lessons we as a society continue to struggle have not changed very much.

The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

A good change
Revisado: 07-18-19
in book two there was way to much Skippy vs Monkey repetitive insulting. Book three had a much better balance. Also I would say book three was a sort of Startreck meets Redstorm rising as in the way this book told the story from many different points if view.

Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.
