Historia
On a crisp autumn day in Painters Mill, Chief of Police Kate Burkholder responds to a call only to discover an Amish man who has been violently killed with a crossbow, his body abandoned on a dirt road. Aden Karn was just twenty years old, well liked, and from an upstanding Amish family. Who would commit such a heinous crime against a young man whose life was just beginning? The more Kate gets to know his devastated family and the people—both English and Amish—who loved him, the more determined she becomes to solve the case.

Narrator is like a bad Captain Kirk impression
Revisado: 03-24-25
Narrator has weird overdramatic pausing, almost like a computer voice. Distracting! Story otherwise okay. Word word word word word

I really tried to like this book and I really wanted to know how it ended. I just didn’t have any patience for these characters. Just couldn’t finish.

Disappointing
Revisado: 10-11-22
I generally enjoy this series, however, I found myself getting annoyed with the characters. The storylines are dragging on too long and I lost patience with them about halfway through. As monotonous as that was, the reading of the tweets and electronic communication was worse! If you like hours of tweets being read aloud for you, then this is the book for you! In a positive note, the narrator was fantastic!

Historia
It was a crime that shocked the nation: the brutal murder in Chicago in 1924 of a child by two wealthy college students who killed solely for the thrill of the experience. Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb were intellectuals - too smart, they believed, for the police to catch them. When they were apprehended, state's attorney Robert Crowe was certain that no defense could save the ruthless killers from the gallows.

Writing and narration
Revisado: 05-02-22
Writing style over the top as if author is trying to write an English paper and threw in as many “big” words as he could think of. Narration equally annoying - unable to finish book.

Historia
The New York Times best-selling author of Magpie Murders and Moriarty brilliantly reinvents the classic crime novel once again with this clever and inventive mystery starring a fictional version of the author himself as the Watson to a modern-day Holmes, investigating a case involving buried secrets, murder, and a trail of bloody clues.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-11-20
The overall story was good. I wished there was more story and less biography and name-dropping by the author.
