Can't believe some of the reviews here. Never in my life have I come across a book and narrator so perfectly matched. Both deserve giant kudos for this most enjoyable and thought-provoking listen. Highly recommended.

Historia
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel of the Roaring Twenties is beloved by generations of readers and stands as his crowning work. This new audio edition, authorized by the Fitzgerald estate, is narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain). Gyllenhaal's performance is a faithful delivery in the voice of Nick Carraway, the Midwesterner turned New York bond salesman, who rents a small house next door to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby....

Fantastic narration marred by tone deaf ending credits
Revisado: 11-24-23
Immediately following those famous beautiful last lines, without a moments pause, a discordant obnoxiously loud voice announces the credits in the most annoying way possible. Whoever produced this obviously has not the slightest appreciation of the book, not to mention sense of taste or decorum. Nearly ruined what was a mostly excellent performance by Gyllenhaal.

Historia
Angelini’s third book and the finale to the Hyena trilogy is a must-listen for anyone longing for something real in a world full of fake. Fin digs even deeper into the world and experiences of the author, who tries to reconcile the sometimes brutal reality of life with the quest for family and a meaningful place in this world. Angelini takes you from behind-the-scenes of Hollywood elites underbelly to the LA "kickbacks" on the outskirts of the city, where Ketamine and Molly are the norm.

Satisfying Conclusion to the Series
Revisado: 11-23-23
At times it felt like the stories were too similar to the ones in his previous books, but in-between the typical Jude sex/drug story there were illuminating chapters moving the larger narrative forward - of his fathr family particularly - and so after finishing it I was very glad I did.
I especially enjoyed his "behind the scenes" last chapter, which added more layers to all the stories (making me appreciate the details) and hit home that these stories are real and written in blood.

When Helene Hanff makes an innocent inquiry about the possibility of purchasing hard-to-find books through Marks and Co., Booksellers, she begins a 20-year love affair with Frank Doel, the proper English bookseller who answers her letter and sends along her first order in the fall of 1949. They are two very unlikely correspondents.

Historia
William Somerset Maugham (18741965) was born at the height of British imperial power. When he died, the British Empire was all but a memory. In Maugham's lifetime, as his civilization slowly disappeared, people from all walks of life, the proud, the urbane, the crude, and the desperate, passed beneath the lens of his dispassionate scrutiny. Transformed into some of the most unforgettable literary works of the 20th century, his experiences re-emerged in his plays, fiction, and essays.

Historia
Of all Somerset Maugham’s novels this is the most entertaining and arguably his best ever. Rosie is a barmaid with a heart of gold and a skeleton in her closet. Maugham’s portrait of her makes his novel fairly glow with witty observations of the contemporary literary scene. Features Willie Ashenden, who resurfaces in Maugham’s Ashenden.
