chapters 6 and still listening
Revisado: 11-04-23
Shayla is very impulsive, but tries her best at whatever she does and is considerate of others. Most of the characters are likeable and the story is a great introduction to Korean pop culture. A very fun read.

Historia
Orphaned at birth, Oliver Twist is born into the grimmest of 19th century English workhouses with a life of grinding poverty ahead of him. But the boy is a fighter and after being evicted from the workhouse for asking for 'more' and surviving a stint as an undertaker’s assistant, he walks many miles to London and finds a whole new life with a gang of young pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger and their guardian Fagin.

The "Twists" Were Very Predictable
Revisado: 01-31-23
The actors and sound were exceptional but the story itself wasn't very engaging. Characters water not very fleshed out at all. Oliver seemed to have faint glimmer of personally but characters were more like caricatures.

An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. Excellent Story
Revisado: 06-25-22
the story really shows the humanity of the characters and subverts negative societal assumptions of groups of people who fall between the cracks. A story that shows how people become corrupted unwillingly.

Historia
From executive producers of The Walking Dead and Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, comes a heart-stopping Audible Original featuring a brilliant British cast. It’s the near future and seven years since a comet hit the earth and blotted out the sun. The world is a dark, frozen landscape. And then, beastly creatures emerge and take over. A story of apocalypse, horror, and adventure, Impact Winter is a wholly original new saga created just for Audible with immersive 3D audio that dares you to pop in your earbuds and listen in the dark.

3.5 Stars
Revisado: 03-20-22
The big bad was pretty flat so lots of points taken for that and the story being pretty predictable. It wasn't a bad listen but it wasn't something I would be excited to recommend to a friend. Great performances and excellent music selections for chapter transitions. I look forward to the second installment.

Historia
Welcome to the end of the world. One minute, people are going about their lives, and the next—not. In the wake of the inexplicable purge, only a handful of young misfits remains. When it all went down, “Wizard of Odd” Dev Brinkman was seeking shelter from the taunts of his classmates. Goth girl Lucy Abernathy had lost her best friend and had no clue where to turn. And Twinkie-loving quarterback “Marcus” Haddad was learning why you never discuss politics and religion in polite company—or online.

Don't Understand The Negative Reviews
Revisado: 02-27-22
A very pragmatic and down to earth showing human of nature if something unrealistic and completely unexpected happened to wipe out the majority of humanity leaving only a few scattered souls behind. I loved the ending and the performance given by Lauren Ezzo was wonderful. I hope to come across more books narrated by her in the future. That behind said this kind of story isn't for everyone but I definitely recommend it to those who don't mind the apocalyptic/ post-apocalyptic genre.

Historia
A down-to-earth global pop star. A deeply spiritual, cerebral powerhouse. A famously outspoken introvert. For her millions of fans, and the few unacquainted, defining rock luminary Alanis Morissette is an exercise in dichotomies and nuance. And though her most formidable traits are seemingly at odds with one another, they are, oddly enough, completely emblematic of all of us: complex, conflicting, and, most importantly, ever evolving. With her striking command of language and profound emotional fluency, the 46-year-old covers an enormous amount of personal ground with listeners.

Short And Sweet
Revisado: 12-02-21
I love her work and a different version of me would have been very excited for this Audible creation despite her experiences and shine expressed thoughts I can't relate to. However this version of me found it to be quite lacking. Maybe I was expecting more and while some thoughts and feelings on vaguely described experiences were shared a lot of backstory was still very guarded which is understandable. More detail concerning the events that inspired the songs from Jagged Little Pill would have probably been interesting, but if those are details that would have been too telling and revealing about things she's rather keep personal that's fine, but at the same time it makes me wonder what the point of this release was if the detail about those things were still going to be so guarded?
Everyone can relate to abstract thoughts and feelings but not being 11 and having the privilege of being able to have her own record label. More detail about those things and growing up as a recording artist and child actor would have given more insight to her worldview. As it is this release comes off really cookie cutter artsy stereotypical.

Historia
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

Historia
In a tradition that runs from R. M. Williamson’s Bits from an Old Bookshop in 1904 to Jen Campbell’s Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops in 2012 (with George Orwell’s 1936 Bookshop Memories in between), here is the latest and perhaps most complete attempt to classify people who shop in bookstores. It does take all kinds. Employing something like Linnaean taxonomic groups, there’s the Expert (divided into subspecies from the Bore to the Helpful Person), the Young Family (ranging from the Exhausted to the Aspirational), and more.

Nice To Know
Revisado: 10-18-21
I found this collection of categorized opinions from of a used book shop owner about their customers entertaining. I'm pretty sure I have been a few of these categories at one point in time. Some bits I found hilarious. And the bonus section was nice too. I'm pretty sure this was a directional decision but the reader Peter Kenny goes a bit fast. It's fine as I tend to have books like this sped up but listening with a headache even at 1.0x speed was a little hard to keep up. All in all an interesting book.

The Rationale Of Paranoia
Revisado: 10-17-21
I enjoyed listening to the Sheridan's various experiences and the things he had learned from them. Problem is all his efforts were toward Armageddon or "Indians" attacking. the latter really irked me. Sheridan was afraid of coming off as a racist toward the men who taught him how to build an igloo and so on but he's pre-occupied with "Indians" attacking out of the blue is repeatedly mentioned throughout the book. Although he does learn some good advice that he shares in this book it's all for preparation of the Apocalypse. When I chose this book I was expecting some practical advice for real world problems with real world examples. The scenarios he presented were interesting but I wouldn't call this book educational.
