I found the info on search and recover informative, but the story line of the two primary missing hikers was extremely repetitive and annoying. I kept thinking I had lost my place and had to check my chapters and bookmark. Never again.

Started out interesting and I thought I would like it. I have tried twice to start it and after the first two hours, lost interest, because the characters, besides the artist and the boy, are entirely not likable. Really unlikable. Not worth it to fill my mind with descriptions of corruption and wealth.

The content is up-to-date (2022) and thorough, covering all aspects of forensic science. The narration is top-notch, very easy to listen to. I liked the references to older technologies that have been replaced by newer tech and discoveries. The case histories from 1980's to 2019 are informative, as well as clarifying that forensic science has also cleared falsely convicted people as well as convicted the guilty, both important for the public's trust in criminal justice systems.

I enjoyed the story, the suspense, the twists and turns. Had trouble with the voice talent chosen for the former president. His voice was too deep and no matter how I tried, I could not get my audio to play distinctly. I don't have this trouble with other audible books. I couldn't listen to it in the car. There needs to be some modulation in the voice or it's near impossible to discern the words.

Authors should not narrate their own works!

I enjoyed "The Goldfinch" perhaps because I love art and the story revolved around a missing Dutch painting. I don't necessarily relate to ancient Greek or to pompous rich kids frittering away their college years drinking, drugging and debauching. The story is endlessly slow with not a lot happening, interspersed with one or two events that propel the story. Add to this the incredibly poor narration by the author (with heavy Mississippi accent) narrating a story that takes place in Vermont! If you're an actor who is an author, maybe. In this case, no. Waste of time.

I couldn't get past the first chapter. I found the narration so bad that I couldn't even continue. Horrible, since I like Joy Ellis a lot. Somebody missed the mark on this narrator. Must be related to someone. Too bad. Total waste of one of my credits.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I find the narrator too staccato, abrupt and overly dramatic. It has taken 50 chapters to almost forget about this and try to focus on the story. I've read every E George novel and this narrator is by far the most annoying. What happened to Donada Peters?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of John Lee?

Donada Peters

Was A Banquet of Consequences worth the listening time?

Yes, a well done mystery in the George classic style.

Worth the Read, Age of Protagonist Doesn't Jive

I too enjoyed the narrator and appreciated the recounting of this important story. I kept having to check historical events, as the protagonist mentions contemporary happenings, such as the Pope's visit to Poland. That made me place the age of the storyteller at 70 or more, much too old for some of the adventures and romantic interludes described. But maybe not? Or maybe it was written ten years ago, or more. Otherwise, a great book and narrator.
