Historia
Richard H. Lawrence, Jr. founded Overlook Investments in Hong Kong in 1991. Since inception, Overlook has grown at 14.3% per year for three decades a remarkable record of growth that is testament to a consistent ability to find and invest in Asia's best companies. This raises two important questions: How did Overlook achieve its success; and how can Overlook best ensure future success? Now, in a level of detail never before disclosed, Richard and the Overlook executive team turn the lens inward to analyze The Overlook Model.

Production is awful. content is average.
Revisado: 10-04-24
content wise this is just one of those funds tooting its own horn and telling the world how they did it and how good they are, though it's interesting to learn of the happenings during the asian currency crisis. a lot of stuff here is 'dilbert' if you know what I mean. nothing in this book will inspire awe or wow you.
the narration is awful. he doesn't know how to pause in between topics and titles.

massive research
Revisado: 06-12-24
wow i cant imagine the amount of effort and research that went into this book. The storytelling is likewise impressive since I barely noticed that it is 18 hours in length. The author's linguistic prowess is also commendable. As for the subject matter itself, this is quite eye opening. I've always wondered on the origin of sacraments and thought that all these can't be original to the christians. very good listen. highly recommended!

hear one story and you've heard them all
Revisado: 03-27-24
kinda boring and repetitive. Listen to one talk and you've listened to everything. well i guess i should've expected that from charlie munger. true there are some witty moments but they got old quite quickly.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

AGONIZING GARBAGE
Revisado: 04-27-21
where do I start hmmmm. i listened for 20 mins and called it quits. if ever there's a lesson in this book somewhere then sorry, the author and narrator can't maintain my curiosity far enough. the narrator sounds like she's sniffing cocaine before each sentence. the author seems like some old guy trying to sound cool. take away the words f*ck, sh*t and all permutations of such then this book would have been over in 10 minutes. no kidding. glad i didn't pay for this garbage. give me back the lost 20 minutes of my life.

Historia
When Newton discovered the law of gravity, he unified the rules governing the heavens and the Earth. Since then, physicists have been placing new forces into ever-grander theories. But perhaps the ultimate challenge is achieving a monumental synthesis of the two remaining theories—relativity and the quantum theory. This would be the crowning achievement of science, a profound merging of all the forces of nature into one beautiful, magnificent equation to unlock the deepest mysteries in science: What happened before the Big Bang?

Revisado: 04-16-21
wow! though I laud the accomplishments of Jennifer Daudna I can't help myself but to root for Feng Zhang more. i know he appeared like a back stabber but as jennifer said herself, science is a cut throat world so she appeared to me as somewhat of a whiner in that regard. I hope Zhang retains his patents. Doudna can keep the Nobel prize. all in all another amazing book by walter isaacson!

Historia
Michael Shellenberger has been fighting for a greener planet for decades. He helped save the world’s last unprotected redwoods. He co-created the predecessor to today’s Green New Deal. And he led a successful effort by climate scientists and activists to keep nuclear plants operating, preventing a spike of emissions. But in 2019, as some claimed "billions of people are going to die", contributing to rising anxiety, including among adolescents, Shellenberger decided that he needed to speak out to separate science from fiction.

Historia
For those who witnessed the global collapse of socialism, its resurrection in the 21st century comes as a surprise, even a shock. How can socialism work now when it has never worked before? In this pathbreaking audiobook, best-selling author Dinesh D’Souza argues that the socialism advanced today by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar, and Elizabeth Warren is very different from the socialism of Lenin, Mao, and Castro.

Nobody could have read this better than the author himself. He really knows what he's talking about. I have listened to both left and right side of the fence and I have to admit his arguments are much more compelling.
