Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Good story, but perspective causes loss of continuity
Revisado: 04-20-24
think the story was good but this one could have benefited from a single perspective storyteller, whether first person, omniscient, etc.

Good plot lines, rushed narration.
Revisado: 03-03-24
I felt like the stories were great ideas, but maybe I was listening to an abridged version? I wanted a bit more elaboration essentially all throughout the book. Great ideas but I wanted to see them fleshed out a little bit more. Also, I felt like the narrator read them like a report. Great job using different voices for a differentiating people, but the inflection on the rest of the story seemed off. Inflection went up and down at strange times… like she had a specific cadence she was going to read every line with regardless of the line itself, or up at the beginning, and then down at the end. Sometimes she even skipped over periods and merged sentences together that didn’t make sense. Also, it felt rushed. I guess I’ll have to read the book myself and see if I feel the same way about the story.

Good listen once acclimated to main character
Revisado: 06-21-23
It took a minute to get used to the narrators choice of voice/accent for the lead character, but once I did, I found the stories to be well written and the character development to have good depth. Just like all of us the main character has her flaws but overall, I found myself looking forward to continuing to listen. I would absolutely purchase more stories by this author.

Too short and not actionable tools
Revisado: 02-26-23
One expects a book titled “managing…” will offer some tools to manage the subject matter. This 6 minute blurb quickly explain the consequences of eruptions at work but does little to actually help manage them other than “ask yourself if it’s worth it” and “speak calmly”. No kidding…

Reads like it’s meant for the movies
Revisado: 08-04-22
Good storylines and decent character development. Well performed. Only drawback for me was it was written as if it was a movie scene. The descriptive words weren’t imaginative, but more exact. For example, where typical authors would describe a scene with some feeling like “she huffed with contempt”, his was described with no feeling or emotion, such as “she sharply exhaled through her nose”. Also, it came off a bit like a man’s romance novel only describing women in relation to their bodies. I actually would have appreciated a brief physical description of each character to get a better overall mental picture, and less attempts at the sexual tension. That aside, the story line itself was very well thought out and kept me engaged.
