Corner of His Eye is a Winner
Revisado: 05-07-25
The narration on this book was just so spectacular that I am ruined for anyone else. Dean Koontz's evolution as a writer is so apparent in this book, as he busts into his sride with humor I didn't even know he had. I laughed out loud so many times. Thank you, Mr Koontz and special kudos to your brilliant narrator. It makes such a huge difference.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. It's a book that meanders through emotional landscapes, taking its time to let us know more about how the protagonist evolves through unimaginable trauma. I would have liked more 'in the room scenes of her childhood' to better understand why she continued the relationship with her mother as long as she did. it was marvelous to watch her come into her own voice and life.

The adolescent writing
Revisado: 07-28-24
This book was definitely a very young YA novel which I did not know when I made the mistake purchasing it. There are dome YA books, like Rin Chupeco series, that are so outstanding, crafted with such a delicate and intelligent panache, that one feels lucky to have stumbled into that territory. Not so with this book. It's basically a teen romance.

Crime and Punishment Timeless and Tragic
Revisado: 03-11-23
This is a raw, ragged, heart-wrenching story that emerges in both violent bursts, aa well as tender, generous intimacies shared in random unexpected moments. The book is steeped in political, moral and social philosophies, seen through the tormented lense of our deeply depressed, protagonist whom I found myself loving in one moment, then wanting to bitch slap in another. All this takes place in FD exquisitely portrayed Petersburg, Russia. We see, smell and feel as though through a screened window, the poverty, the cold, the hunger and a Russia I will never know. I am most grateful to this beloved author...

From beginning to the last words, I absolutely loved this book and the authors performance. It's been an age since I got so lost in a book I didn't want it to be over, to say farewell to the characters and have it sink into memory. I don't think it's possible to oversell this one. Enjoy

In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

Another reason I love Steven King
Revisado: 04-10-22
How HOW does he come up with these random as Fk concepts and weave them into nail biting, page Flippin, have to stay up way too late to keep reading this insanely well crafted book idea? I don't know what goes on in your beautiful mind Mr. King, but thank you for all the hours I've spent at campsites in the middle if nowhere (The Shining), on the road to somewhere, reading out loud to the family to keep the kids from killing each other or getting tossed out if the car (Eyes of the Dragon), and on and on. Just thank you. I actually didn't listen to this one, but read it when it came out and so loved it. I had to write this because some of the reviews were weird.
