Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Not quite as good as his other books
Revisado: 05-17-24
This is the third book from Andy Weir I listened to, the first one was The Martian and the second was Hail Mary and I really loved those books. This one is good, but it is lacking something but I can’t put my finger on it. I think it is the not “so hard” problems that needed to be solved, the pacing of the story. I am not sure. I mean it is not a bad book, but the author had put a very high standard with the first two books I listened to.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Another masterpiece from Andy Weir
Revisado: 05-15-24
This is the second book I listened to from Andy Wier, the first one was The Martian.
I really enjoy the story telling style and how the author creates believable stories and characters and how the monologue moves the story forward. I can relate to the main character and how things play out. This audio book also has a lot of good sound engineering so it is a better book than the printed version (I think, but I haven’t read the book only listen to it).
If you enjoyed The Martian this is more like it.

Historia
Moneyball reveals a quest for something as elusive as the Holy Grail, something that money apparently can't buy: the secret of success in baseball. The logical places to look would be the giant offices of major league teams and the dugouts. But the real jackpot is a cache of numbers collected over the years by a strange brotherhood of amateur baseball enthusiasts: software engineers, statisticians, Wall Street analysts, lawyers, and physics professors.

Good case for business intelligence
Revisado: 03-11-15
I have almost zero knowledge of baseball, but it was a nice listen to a good case for using business intelligence to optimize the performance and exploiting inefficient markets. I was recommended this book for that reason and I am not disappointed.

Another epic story
Revisado: 11-20-12
Daniel Saurez does it again. After reading (well, listening) to Daemon and FreedomTM I was excited to see what else Daniel could come up with, and let me tell you - I was not a bit disappointed.
The story begins in what is reality today, and take it from there. The future described in the book is not (unfortunately) far-fetched, just a natural evolution of current technology. The characters was brought to life and it was like you learned to know them a bit at the end of the story.
Daniel has a nag for bringing a semi-happy situation to a complete disaster in a few line of pose, keeping you on the edge of your seat (I usually listen while working or commuting). I can't recommend this book high enough, and if you liked Daemon and FreedomTM I am certain that you will love this one.

IQ scores have the power to determine the chances we have in life: the people we meet, the schools we attend, the jobs we get, the lives we live. Very few of us, however, understand what IQ tests and ratings really mean. In this fascinating, provocative book, Stephen Murdoch explains the turbulent history and controversial current uses of intelligence testing.

I noticed that if you increased the listening speed to 1 and 1/2 times the normal speed the narrator is actually not sounding too bad.

6 hours and 22 minutes of ranting
Revisado: 03-13-11
I forced myself to listen through the 6 hours and 22 minutes of ranting about how how much better things were before, and how we as a society are dependent on big corporations to select what kind of media we want to consume. I do agree that we still need media outlets that offers a broad view of current issues, both domestic and international, but I don't agree that the world will end just because the old media outlets are inable to adapt to the new economy.
