Well made, but the bias was a problem
Revisado: 12-08-24
The series was well made with short episodes well-narrated and plenty of interesting clips. However, the creator has a clear Patsy Did It (PDI) bias and doesn’t provide a firm case for any of the other theories. This is particularly apparent in his assessment of the Burke Did It (BDI) theory, where he cannot help but cast doubt and qualify every statement to make it seem less likely, while uncritically accepting even the most tenuous aspects of PDI theory.
A good example is how everyone in JonBenet’s family says she liked pageants and did them for fun, but he takes the word of an unrelated nanny who says she didn’t like it as evidence that Patsy was forcing her to live vicariously through her daughter. At the same time, a nanny reports that Burke hit his sister in the head with a golf club and heard this from Patsy in confidence, but the podcaster discredits her because Patsy later said that he did it by mistake.
It it was a bit more balanced and fair to each theory it would have been much better.

Historia
Foreign Faction blows the cover off the lone intruder / sexual predator theory and reveals startling new evidence that heretofore has only been seen by a select few. Kolar's work offers an entirely new perspective for the events leading up to JonBenet's murder on Christmas day 1996, and it will ultimately redefine the public's perception of one of the most unusual murder investigations this country has ever witnessed.

Long teaser with no resolution
Revisado: 07-29-24
The book is an interesting overview of evidence related to the unsolved crime of the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. However, the narrator is poor with many errors in pronunciation and obvious re-records that make it difficult to listen to, she is also female where the actual author is male.
The book itself seems to be a bit of a diatribe on internal strife within the police department and DAs office in Boulder surrounding this crime. The author consistently teases - “more on this evidence later” or “more on that theory later” and then when the time comes to actually lay out his theory of the crime, he holds back and refuses to share it in the book, instead inviting readers to use their imagination to connect the dots themselves.
Overall, fairly frustrating listen and I won’t revisit it, but it did contain first-person content written by a person close to the case, so it may be interesting to those who are curious about the investigation itself.

Historia
In 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O. J. Simpson was tried for the crime, but was ultimately found not guilty of criminal charges. The victims' families brought civil cases against Simpson, in which he was found liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole by committing battery with malice and oppression. The Goldman family views this book as Simpson's confession.

Yeah, he did it
Revisado: 08-04-23
This book makes it so obvious that OJ killed Nicole and Ron it’s sickening. All the evidence pointed to him at trial and the jurors admitted they nullified because they were mad about Rodney King.
Listening to a violent abuser describe his victim as a psychotic drug-addled manipulative ‘woman of the night’ was illuminating; he carefully omitted details that placed the blame on himself for beating her, casting her as the cause of her own abuse and subsequent murder. He presents himself as the best boy: a magnanimous and generous husband and lover who always cared for Nicole even after he moved on (oh yes, he was totally over her, just wait until you read about how he totally innocently and not at all stalking watched her kissing a boyfriend in her home through the window more than three months after they had separated and banged on the door before running away to terrify and harass her) but she couldn’t get over him even as she spiraled out of control with drugs and sex and partying.
The “salacious” chapter, the “hypothetical” one about the murder goes to show that in spite of his desire to make it appear speculative, he knew and included details that only the killer would have experienced. “Charlie” - who I imagine is actually his oldest son, Jason - behaves shockingly like someone who just witnessed a murder and OJ describes abusing him into helping cover for him. It’s an interesting read but the rest of the book, the setting of the stage designed to blame and shame Nicole is even more instructive.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, I think so. It seals the deal, confirms what everybody already knows, and gives justified remuneration to the Goldman Family who have been desperately fighting to have some measure of Justice for their lost loved one. Just remember you’re listening to a violent abuser twisting the story to his favor. If you don’t need to take a couple of breaks out of fury for the victims, though, you may be heartless.

Helpful and good listen
Revisado: 08-03-23
The book is very helpful for individuals with dysfunctional family systems, especially those who are just beginning to suspect that something may have been wrong about the way they were raised.
Insightful, relatable, heartbreaking, and inspiring all at once, this book is truly a foundational read for the aforementioned cohort. The voice acting was clear and matched the text, I listened on 1.2 speed and found it perfect.
