Historia
There is nothing like hiding a secret identity from your roommate besties to complicate... everything. And when they decide I need a love life makeover, I can't tell them why I don't have time for their schemes. Retirement home nurse by day, lead singer of a rock band by night. Not on the schedule: Men. I'd rather cuddle with Bernice, the hangry boa next door. I can't think of an excuse fast enough to get out of betting my prime parking space against them finding me true love, but luckily, they pick the worst possible guy for me.

Clean but toasty
Revisado: 07-13-24
How does one write a clean romance that sizzles? I don’t know, ask Sarah Adams. This was a lovely story that didn’t go past kissing but felt very romantic. I enjoyed reuniting with the Dalton family and I’m left wanting more.

Not for me
Revisado: 04-13-24
This version was too politically charged for my taste. As others mentioned, it’s not the original. I was seeking something lighter, more geared toward children, and not necessarily something with adult agendas. I’m sure it’s an enjoyable experience for others, but it didn’t meet my expectations.

Such a cute sweet romance

Bit of crude language but everything else was lovely. I really enjoyed the characters and the sweet interactions. It’s a perfect miniature pick-me-up.

Historia
Last year, Rachel Bacharach met the man of her dreams at a Hanukkah party — and then her outgoing best friend Tamara swooped in and “called” Oz Caplan for herself. It’s a typical outcome for the dependable, bookish Rachel, who is never able to extinguish the spark she immediately felt for Oz. But being secretly in love with her best friend’s boyfriend all year hasn’t been easy.

Not as strong as Bright Winter Lights
Revisado: 06-16-23
Bright Winter Lights set the bar high. It was a sweet romance and the banter was enjoyable. I expected this to be very similar and I was disappointed. The plot was strong but the dialogue was lacking. Rachel is supposed to be sweet, and she was for the most part… when she wasn’t talking like a frat boy in a locker room. The first instance of her masculine use of slang surprised me; subsequent uses annoyed me. This might not be an issue for any other reader, so feel free to consider this a one-off if that kind of thing doesn’t bother you. Personally, I found the shift in vernacular to be more than a little jarring. I don’t know many women who are grandma sweater wearing, poetry reading, sweethearts who also talk like they’re trying hard to be one of the guys.
Since the strange shift in language was my only complaint, I’ll stress again, this could be mere preference.

Enjoyable work from Wheeler
Revisado: 05-10-23
It’s one of the early works so there are rougher edges than his newer books. Still, I disagree with other reviewers who said it wasn’t worth reading. If you enjoy Jeff Wheeler, you’ll still appreciate this.

Confession: I'm attracted to my student's dad. Let me give you Tyler Dixon's resume: thoughtful, manly, father of the year, widower, ridiculously attractive (basically the opposite of a dad bod). This might sound like good news for someone like me—someone who dreams of getting married and becoming a mom—but it's not. Getting involved with a parent is a ground for immediate removal at my school, and right now, my fragile heart can't handle being fired. My mom just died. My boyfriend broke up with me, and to top it all off, my dad started dating again.

I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by Wheeler. He is quite adept at describing battle without going overboard. I enjoy suspense and action but feel that many authors are too verbose when it comes to war. Wheeler tells you exactly what you need to know to keep the story interesting.
