Love the ice series

I've read the last book of the series as well as the first. Loved both of them. This one got on my nerves a lot more. My least favorite of the 3 I've read. I was not a huge fan of the heroine.

I've put off listening to these due to reviews about how 'dark' they are, afraid the men were just jerks... in which case I had no interest. But I LOVE a good action/adventure with an awesome male AND strong female lead. These books are incredible. And the love story is so sweet- this is the second one I teared up. The whole book is good... keeps you on your toes in addition to the developing relationship between the leads.
The narrator was good- but you could hear audible swallows she took as well as her breathing at times. But I don't think detracted from the story too much. And she did a good job with the different characters.

I liked the premise of this book, so wanted to "read" it. But it was not one of my favorites. It was kind of boring at times, because I couldn't get into the plot at all. I thought chemistry of the characters were not as good as in other books by this author. So just an "ok" listen for me.

I loved it so much and was so drawn into the characters and story, I thought about it all the time, even when not reading it. It is not an easy read, as you really feel the characters pain and I would get to the point I wanted to take a break from reading it. It made me interested in France's history during the war, and the narration just highlighted the beauty of the French language. The narrator somehow gave each character their own voice, which made it amazing to listen to.

I agree with some other reviewers that said the first half of the book was slow. I was still interested in the characters, and the second half of the book was wonderful. Well worth the wait! I highly recommend!
