Wonderfully reading, predictable stories
Revisado: 03-05-22
It's a great selection of short stories that all pretty much follow the same "last minute surprise twist!" - pattern, but are still very much enjoyable even if you can see the ending coming a mile a way. Worth it if you get it for free with the premium like I did.

Historia
In the small coastal city of Oran, Algeria, rats begin rising up from the filth only to die as bloody heaps in the streets. Shortly after, an outbreak of the bubonic plague erupts and envelops the human population. Albert Camus' The Plague is a brilliant and haunting rendering of human perseverance and futility in the face of a relentless terror born of nature.

Very good!
Revisado: 01-07-22
My first book from Camus, I thoroughly enjoyd it and the narration was superb!
Also somewhat topical consider the current climate, obviosly not comperrable but a rather hopeful view of the human condition in a time of morbid strugle, whilst also telling of the bleakness that can arrise in people.
Worth the read, in a pandemic or not!

Gold nuggets under a large pile of horseshit
Revisado: 12-03-21
It's Tolstoi, so obviosly there are some insights here worth pondering, especially in the first few chapters.
If you've only read War & Peace and still wish to enjoy Tolstoi beside his reliqious and era-accurate views on the world, best to skip this one, it holds little value to what is the majority of dogma in this book.
The narrator is the most ridicilous sounding pompous intellectual- wannabe I've heard in a while. Maybe they chose him on the basis that he speaks all the required languages since not all parts are translated from german or french into english, but sounding like a Bond villain in german or a street artist imitating a french streotype in french, only to sound arrogantly righteous in russian, was a turn off from what was already a strongle argumentative book.

Okay
Revisado: 09-24-21
It's okay, a little outdated( by like 20 years) and pretty specific, that is if you are an avid social party goer( not the club, more like Great Gatsby) whose already in or close to the 1%, or aspire to be, this book may be valid. I'd still recommend Carnegie rather than this book, and that one is significantly older, but the ideas hold wayyy more water, and this book recycles some of them, so overall not bad, not great.

Whether we view it in theological, philosophical, or psychological terms, evil remains both a deeply intriguing question and a crucially relevant global issue. Now, Professor Mathewes offers you a richly provocative and revealing encounter with the question of human evil - a dynamic inquiry into Western civilization's greatest thinking and insight on this critical subject.

EXCELLENT
Revisado: 06-18-21
Charles Mathewes is an amazing speaker, teacher and student of not only evil, but the whole concept of what it is to be a moral being in this seemingly senseless world. Wether you're an atheist or a religious person of any sort, this lecture series is for you! I think this should be mandatory listen to everybody, although it helps to have previous knowledge of some basic history and culture, but anybody over the age of 16 or so should have some grasp of the fundamentals in here, and he does explain everything broadly and generally. Can't recommend enough!

Historia
Renowned poet and critic Clive James presents the crowning achievement of his career: a monumental translation into English verse of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is the precursor of modern literature, and this translation - decades in the making - gives us the entire epic as a single, coherent and compulsively listenable lyric poem. Written in the early 14th century and completed in 1321, the year of Dante’s death, The Divine Comedy is perhaps the greatest work of epic poetry ever composed.

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.

An amazing collection of the scientific knowledge with their relative backrounds, done by a great scientist, teacher and speaker Steven Gimbel. Can't recommend enough, unless you're looking to expand your already rather immense familiriaty with these subjects, this is very much just bringing together the basics of all the great sciences and what we know now.

For the first time ever, the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has produced an audio recording of all of Lovecraft's stories. These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

Historia
Ulysses is regarded by many as the single most important novel of the 20th century. It tells the story of one day in Dublin, June 16th 1904, largely through the eyes of Stephen Dedalus (Joyce's alter ego from Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and Leopold Bloom, an advertising salesman. Both begin a normal day, and both set off on a journey around the streets of Dublin, which eventually brings them into contact with one another.
