The narrator was superb. This story is all about the characters, their relationships, the friendships and hostilities, with glimpses of their world.
The voices of Maia, Setheris, Cała, Csevet, Idra, Ino, Shevean, Lord Chavar, and the Great Avar, are perfect, and some of the minor characters become memorable though the voice acting as well (Eshena has a few lines but what a voice!)
One minor gripe about the acting- the narrator makes some of the characters sound a lot older than their stated age, especially the women. Csethiro Ceredin, who is twenty one sounds like she's forty. The narrator has no trouble at all with rendering the voice of a six year old girl (who is one of the best voices) or a 14 year old boy (same) so it's a pity that Csethiro's voice was so unconvincing and sounding more like a bored middle aged courtier than a young spirited woman who likes fencing and one punched her cousin on the nose.
But overall, this is one of my favorite audiobook narrations if not the most favorite in my entire collection.

Snarky, warm and opinionated. Really deepened my understanding of the topic in a very entertaining way. Also, Aubrey and Mike have a great chemistry and are just fun to listen to.
