Historia
This is the story of two boys, Dylan Ebdus and Mingus Rude. They are friends and neighbors, but because Dylan is white and Mingus is black, their friendship is not simple. This is the story of their Brooklyn neighborhood, which is almost exclusively black despite the first whispers of something that will become known as "gentrification."

One of the best books I've ever listened to.
Revisado: 05-14-13
Which character – as performed by David Aaron Baker – was your favorite?
Mingus Roode. I love him. When I wasn't listening I was wondering what was happening to him.
Any additional comments?
This is one of the only books I've ever read/listened to that I felt had no cheesy filler parts. Most books have parts that you can take seriously, and parts where you can tell the writer is filling in or trying to bring things together, you know where you stop hearing the story and you're just watching the writer write feeling a little sorry for him/her. This book was real heart felt story telling all the way through. These characters are real people, even though they aren't.. They could be any one of us is what I mean. Just read it.

Historia
Shiva, 'the destroyer' among the Hindu trinity (of gods), is depicted in many contradictory manners. He is an ascetic who wears animal skin, his body smeared with ashes. Contradictory to his wild nature, he is also depicted as having a family, with a beautiful wife and two children. There are many more such varied representations of Shiva, the most prominent of these being the Linga and the Nataraja. The author, Devdutt Pattanaik, introduces the readers to these varied aspects and representations.

Any additional comments?
If you are into yoga, meditation or are seeking to grow spiritually you need to listen to this book. I spend a lot of time reading and listening to eastern spirituality books and a lot of it is the same thing said different ways. This is actually different, it goes into depth about some ideas that were touched on in my yoga teacher training. So glad I found this!!!

Historia
Jonathan Safran Foer spent much of his teenage and college years oscillating between omnivore and vegetarian. But on the brink of fatherhood - facing the prospect of having to make dietary choices on a child's behalf - his casual questioning took on an urgency His quest for answers ultimately required him to visit factory farms in the middle of the night, dissect the emotional ingredients of meals from his childhood, and probe some of his most primal instincts about right and wrong.

If you eat food, you MUST read this book
Revisado: 02-05-12
It is time for human beings to take responsibility for the things they put in their bodies. No more can we continue to buy these products and say "Well, I didn't know." the information is out there, we are all adults and have a responsibly to educate ourselves. By continuing to support these practices we are condoning it and are there for responsible. Eating animals is a good place to start because it is a very balanced picture of what is wrong with our farming system. There are parts that are hard to hear for sure. But we owe it to our fellow creatures on this earth to treat them with fairness. We owe it to ourselves to know what we are putting in our mouths and feeding to our children. Every adult on this earth should read this book. Seriously.

My favorite book, read by the author.
Revisado: 01-18-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Little, Big to be better than the print version?
The audible version is better than the print because you can drive, work-out, and clean your house while listening. Because this is my favorite book it has been very cool to have it read to me by the author, with the inflection and pauses he intended.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Little, Big?
When Violet the child stolen by the fairies is flying by her own sleeping mother( that she hasn't seen in years) on the back of a stork and reaches out to touch her mother's hair.
This sentence will obviously make no sense to someone who has not read the book.
Which character ??? as performed by John Crowley ??? was your favorite?
I like all the characters too much to pick just one. I identify a lot with Daily Alice.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book gives me a feeling of wonder that I only remember from childhood.
Any additional comments?
This book is a classic, if you love fantasy or strange tales you must read this book in your lifetime. I quote this book often and there is a web site dedicated to quotes from this book.

Historia
The Barbarossa family’s roots are far more ancient and ethereal, but they are bound to the Gearys by a shared history of murder, insanity, and adultery. When Rachel Geary and Galilee, the seductive prince of the Barbarossa clan, fall in love, they unleash powerful enmities that could destroy both dynasties. Shorter and more conventional than some of Barker’s other work, this novel is especially rich with complex, passionate, three-dimensional characters, lush settings, and elegant language.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.
