Historia
In 12 Rules for Life, clinical psychologist and celebrated professor at Harvard and the University of Toronto Dr. Jordan B. Peterson helped millions impose order on the chaos of their lives. Now, in this bold sequel, Peterson delivers 12 more lifesaving principles for resisting the exhausting toll that our desire to order the world inevitably takes. In a time when the human will increasingly imposes itself over every sphere of life - from our social structures to our emotional states - Peterson warns that too much security is dangerous.

Fundamental
Revisado: 03-01-24
What makes this work and it's predecessor so valuable to someone is it's insight into the thoughts and actions you have every day. It explains the psychological road signs that appear in one's own mind and life around them that indicate what they need to do to get to a desirable destination and maintain the vehicle that getss you there. It's not a self-help book. It's worldly education and orientation essential for operating within human society. It's all been said in many ways, but usually not so well structured and modern. It is as essential and clinical as a calculator in math class.

A Brilliant Man, A Dangerous Idea, Well Performed
Revisado: 12-19-22
Saul gives really interesting insights into the inner workings of organized social movements and tells tails of masterful choreography of political mudslinging and manipulation. It is important to keep in mind, however that radicalism is friend to no man and when it gets what it is powerful, leaves people in graves. That said, this is a fantastic educational piece and ought to be regarded as a classic of organizational philosophy!

Historia
One of the most talked-about scholarly works of the past 50 years, Judith Butler's Gender Trouble is as celebrated as it is controversial. Arguing that traditional feminism is wrong to look to a natural, "essential" notion of the female, or indeed of sex or gender, Butler starts by questioning the category "woman" and continues in this vein with examinations of "the masculine" and "the feminine." Best known however, but also most often misinterpreted, is Butler's concept of gender as a reiterated social performance rather than the expression of a prior reality.

Apologies to the Narrator
Revisado: 12-06-22
In all fairness, it's a hard book to do well. The writing is excessively verbose and not a single concrete point is made except off assumptions from French theorists which already do not hold water. I wish the author would have seen this before writing because she is an intelligent mind.

Historia
Proclus - or Proclus of Athens, as he is sometimes known - is widely and rightly considered to be one of the most significant later Neoplatonist philosophers. At age 40 (c.437 CE) or so, Proclus became head of the revived Plato’s Academy in Athens. In his role for the next 50 years, the unmarried Proclus worked hard, combining effectively the roles of administrator, teacher and writer. Astronomy, ethics, mathematics, physics, theology - Proclus tackled all of those topics that together fell under the umbrella of philosophy in his time.

Uninterpretable
Revisado: 12-06-22
This may only be an issue with the translation, but I found Proclus to be incredibly repetitive and non-descript. The words "One" and "Multitude" appear far too many times in the first chapter with little to no explanation.
