Historia
In Fables of Fortune, author Richard Watts pulls back the brocade curtain to reveal the precarious path of wanting more. As an advisor to the super-rich, Watts reflects on the reality of wealth and a difficult and heartbreaking lesson: "The wealthiest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least." Through vignettes based on true stories, Fables of Fortune reveals the challenges the super-wealthy face, including marriages based on net worth, interfamily inheritance battles, faux friends, entitled children, alienation, and spiritual depletion.

Fabulous book. Great insight into the super rich and how it may be more of a curse than a blessing.

Interesting concept, very boring listen, way too long.
Revisado: 02-11-23
The concept of spending all of your money on experiences is very interesting especially for those who are in the financial independence retire early community. I agree with the author in that you should spend your money on experiences, especially during the years when you can enjoy them the most.
However, the book is incredibly boring and way too long. He repeats himself over and over again in the overall idea is way too simple for a five hour audiobook. I also think that it is impossible to gas how long you were going to live and what life circumstances are going to be thrown your way so to try and budget and spend your money as if you’re going to leave with zero dollars is impossible. The author references the book “Your money or your life“ which is a much better listen. Just read that, this is unnecessary.

Shot my first 75 after listening to this book
Revisado: 09-11-22
I’ve been playing a lot more golf recently and to my dismay, my scores were getting worse. When I first started playing again I was shooting in the mid 80s but I found that my scores for creeping up into the low 90s and decided that I need to change some things so I thought this book.
One week later, I shot an 80 and my first 75, three over par. I could not believe how fast the result happened. On the other hand, it made total sense, I’ve been going out and playing without a game plan and focusing on the wrong things. This book completely changed my mindset, which in golf, is massive. There is also something very calming about listening to Dr. Rotella. Breaks things down in a very easy to understand and actionable way. I highly recommend.

One of the best books on actionable items related to buisness that easily could be a multi thousand dollar seminar. No “pie in the sky” content. Everything is actionable. I bought the hard copy with the audible to read absorb it all.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Truly exceptional
Revisado: 10-07-19
I simply could not put this book down. I didn’t think that it would have quite the impact on me that it has. As a self proclaimed entrepreneur, this book gives me a ton of gratitude for where I came from where my parents came from and their parents came from. I’ve always considered myself lucky, but this puts it in a much greater perspective. I don’t want to give anything away, but if you are on the fence I strongly suggest that you give this a listen.

Revisado: 05-09-19
Felt more like a rant than an audiobook on personal and professional development. I have listened to dozens of audiobooks and this one was so hard to listen to that I stopped halfway through the third chapter. Be prepared to hear him say “10X rule” 10,000x. Makes a better drinking game than an audio book.

Has changed my life
Revisado: 02-25-19
I am a big audiobook guy, and have listen to countless books on procrastination, motivation, and discipline. This book is #1. I do believe that it was necessary for me to listen to all of the other books to truly appreciate how valuable, practical, and applicable this is. I have created daily systems that have transformed many bad habits into really good ones. Prior to this book, I don’t think anyone would’ve considered me a clean and organize person, but that has completely changed. Adding organization systems into my life has allowed me to become much happier and focused on the higher level tasks that I should be spending my energy on. It’s a fantastic book, I highly recommend.

Must read for any entrepreneur with high aspirations
Revisado: 01-05-19
This was the perfect follow up book to his original “millionaire next-door “. There are so many books out there that teach you how to run a successful business , how to better your own self growth, business books, marketing books, accounting, etc. But this book, completely changed my outlook and mindset on to live as, and become a millionaire. It was such a breath of fresh air, seeing that most millionaires are actually quite frugal when it comes to materialistic items that depreciate in value. If you look at any Instagram Millionaire, they appear to be living the high life, where they may actually be balance sheet broke. It’s all an illusion. This review probably won’t give Dr Stanley’s book the justice he deserves, but it truly is fantastic. It’s one of those books you can read over and over again to keep you focused on your goals, and not get caught up in all of the “fluff” or financial booby traps that are everywhere. Thank You Dr. Stanley

Historia
As it was in Anna Karenina, Madame Bovary, and Othello, so it is in life. Most forms of private vice and public evil are kindled and sustained by lies. Acts of adultery and other personal betrayals, financial fraud, government corruption - even murder and genocide - generally require an additional moral defect: a willingness to lie. In Lying, bestselling author and neuroscientist Sam Harris argues that we can radically simplify our lives and improve society by merely telling the truth in situations where others often lie.

In a world where lying is commonplace, I felt like this really touched home on multiple fronts for me. Identifying how small white lies can
lead to much larger problems and how deception can lead to trust issues between friends and loved ones. It is a very short read, something I will revisit often as we live in a society where lying has become thought of as the right thing to do
