Historia
1913. The clouds of war are gathering. The world’s great empires vie for supremacy. Europe is in turmoil, a powder keg awaiting a spark. A body is discovered on the shore below Beachy Head, just a mile from Sherlock Holmes’s retirement cottage. The local police are satisfied that it’s a suicide. The victim, a young man, recently suffered a disappointment in love, and Beachy Head is notorious as a place where the desperate and depressed leap to their deaths. Holmes, however, suspects murder. As he and Watson investigate, they uncover a conspiracy with shocking ramifications.

Winter, 1920. Amateur sleuth Lady Eleanor Swift is feeling festive. She is playing host to the entire village at Henley Hall. She’s also purchased perfect presents for each of her household - not forgetting the biggest bone in the butcher’s shop for her partner in crime, Gladstone the bulldog - and is looking forward to celebrating her first English country Christmas. As snowflakes fall, Eleanor is cheering on contestants in the traditional Christmas fun run in the grounds of the hall. But tragedy strikes when one of the runners drops dead at the finish line.

Defective audio.
Revisado: 12-01-21
This can't be a review because I was unable to listen to the book. There are repeated “ hiccups and blips” and it makes the listening frustrating. I tried removing it from the device and downloading it again. I liked in a variety of places to try to make a comment, but I was unable to locate any. I know this is supposed to be easy to do, but I can’t seem to find a way.. as an aside, I have read this book and enjoyed it. I thought I'd listen to it for a flavor of the holidays very, very frustrating.

I didn't care for the narrator
Revisado: 02-01-15
This wouldn't lead me to read any more by this author. Maybe a different narrator would have helped, but I'm not sure.
