I don’t know why it took me so long to get to this book. The first one is one of my favorites. But I absolutely loved this story. The end was wonderful and the journey to get there was well paced. I love listening to Wil Wheaton perform. He could read the ingredients off a cereal box and I’d buy it.

I absolutely love this storybook retelling of life and career of #2. I found myself shaking my head and the butchering of so many players names, awkward pauses, and complete lack of enthusiasm for the material.

There is currently a documentary on ESPN that has the majority of the stories in this book and is just overall better.

However, there are still some gems on these pages. Deeper dives into the Arod ordeal, the greed and slime of Cashman, and the dirty details of the business side of things.

My favorite anecdote is of Jeter and Mattingly working out in an empty stadium. Mattingly telling the captain “let’s run it in, you never know whose watching”. This defines what it means to be the captain of the greatest team in sports history. One former captain to another.

I’ve been a lifelong yankee fan. I grew up with mattingly, Boggs, Williams, O’Neil, and the beginning of the late 90s dynasty.

Was fun to get a more in depth look at the history behind the late 70s team.

I love how the story is about the season and the playoffs and World Series is just the epilogue. In typical Yankees fashion, the championship is just the icing on the cake. The battle back from so many games down and the turmoil in the clubhouse is the real nitty gritty of what it takes to bake the cake.

Would recommend to any baseball fan looking to get a little more info on the history of one of the greatest dynasties to ever grace the world of sports.

The narrator is great with her voices. But whoever did the mixing of the levels did a terrible job. I’m constantly turning it up and down as her parents are screaming and matilda is whispering. Do yourself a favor and just buy the book and read it.

I got this as a suggestion from a dm that ran a campaign at a local game shop. He and his friends kept making references and inside jokes. I figured I would pick it up and listen to get in the loop.

This ha s been unbearable. I stopped after the second chapter. There had to be at least 50 “ your mom jokes.

This idea of grog groups is gatekeepy as hell. It reminds me of all the male only games where everyone tries to act cool and murder hobo’s everything. I don’t recommend this book to anyone who plays dungeons and dragons.

The lies of Locke Lamora is one of my favorite books ever written. The story is rich in character and plot development. It makes you laugh and cry and left wanting more. Unfortunately his sophomore and junior additions to the Locke Lamora take are sub par at best. Diving off the deep end into a world of nautical nonsense and a stage play that goes no where. I do not recommend this book for its story.
Michael Page does a fantastic job at narrating and Calo and Galdo make a brief return to give a small chuckle. However the ending and lead up was flat. This book is the equivalent of a ruined orgasm.

I have pray if The Thorne of Emberlain is ever released, that Lynch finds a way to bring his tale back around. Until then it’s a pirate ship out to sea, without any cats aboard and only seagull farts to give wind to the sails
