Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

I am really enjoying this story
Revisado: 06-05-23
When it comes right down to it I just like the story, it’s fun and it’s exciting. For me it doesn’t spend too much time in any One Direction. It’s a “survival list” story of sorts.
I like how the story covers shelf life of things.
This doesn’t give me the most extreme experience but as someone who was in the Coast Guard and stationed in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and I can tell you things don’t last long and there is one thing for sure desperate people can end up doing stupid desperate things. I like how the story describes the struggles. It’s a fun read for me.
I just hope the author can keep the series going as long as possible and “respectfully” hope the third book doesn’t take a year and half to finish.

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I liked it.
Revisado: 05-11-23
Overall I enjoyed this story. “I liked” that I didn’t like some part’s because it was either
*uncomfortable (how Grace ended up going)
*And his panic attacks.
Made me stop projecting my take on scenario’s and focus how others would react in scenarios.
Overall I enjoyed it

Historia
It is the most famous military installation in the world. And it doesn't exist. Located a mere s75 miles outside of Las Vegas in Nevada's desert, the base has never been acknowledged by the US government - but Area 51 has captivated imaginations for decades. Annie Jacobsen had exclusive access to 19 men who served the base proudly and secretly for decades and are now aged 75-92, and unprecedented access to 55 additional military and intelligence personnel, scientists, pilots, and engineers linked to the secret base, 32 of whom lived and worked there for extended periods.

Revisado: 03-11-21
Love this book! I haven’t been as captivated by a documentary/journalistic “like” book since Guns Germ and Steel! I could not do it all at once. For me it’s the type of book to do in pieces to allow my brain to process and work through the info (really the intelligence) Mostly to get passed my frustrations and aggravations of the sins of our forefathers. Simply it was me pissing me off!
I will recommend this book!!!

Historia
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Absolutely Love this story
Revisado: 09-18-16
I am retired military. I offer that only to help with my perspective of this story. *The first thing that caught my attention/imagination was how it came across as an After Action Report.
* The second, the number of actors/voices. I didn't read who the voices were before I listen and I was enthralled with every bit. Then I hear Alan Alda's voice and cemented this book as my number one favorite go-to and recommended book. I can listen to it again and again.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Great Story: But too much REPETITIVE FILL
Revisado: 08-28-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Temple of the Winds to be better than the print version?
Over all, Love the story, but the repitition was killing me . I don't know about anybody else, I for one thought it became too obvious of "FILL" when specific Character history is repeated 4 or more times, AT LENGTH!
Disclamer: I don't know what I'm talking about when I say this:
...I'm blaming the Publisher or editor for this one. Come on Guy's keep your head in the game.
Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Over all, Dick Hills performance was Great!. Specifically how he added the appropriate voice to the emotion and situation. The only cringe worthy parts of his performance were the non Mord-Sith Female voices. specifically Kahlans voice was too petite all the time.In all great reading.
Any additional comments?
I wonder if it makes any sense (and cents) to make an audio version that is similar to a "Readers Theater" version. Possibly two or more Performers and a little sound effects. I'm not saying anything from Lucas (ILM) Studios just something simple. Just food for thought.
