Historia
Nice Victorian ladies don’t run off to find legendary lost cities. One trifling little arrest shouldn’t have cost Ellie Mallory her job, but it’s only the latest in a line of injustices facing any educated woman with archaeological ambitions. When Ellie stumbles across the map to a mysterious ancient city, she knows she’s holding her chance to revolutionize Pre-Colombian history. There’s just one teensy complication.

5 star read with a 4 star audio
Revisado: 03-15-25
This was such an amazingly fun time and 5 star read. The audiobook, despite having different 3rd person POV chapters for Ellie and then for Adam, is one singular woman who just stops her British accent on the chapters she’s Adam. I know authors have to pay more for dual or duet narration so that’s why this is a 4 star audio for me. If it was dual at a minimum, it would be 6 stars for both!

I wanted to get more from this than I did
Revisado: 09-04-23
I purchased this book to audible thinking the audiobook would be an easier read and more readily accessible based on my trauma therapist’s recommendation. I wish I didn’t because I skipped over every exercise embedded. I found the narration and switching of the voices annoying. While I did enjoy learning about the IFS model, along with some of Dick Schwartz ‘s anecdotes, this book added 40% enrichment to a topic I am learning in therapy and on my own. I feel this book isn’t anything that my therapist could not have spent the time to teach me albeit expediting the process. I plan to read the Every Memory Deserves Respect (EMDR) recommendation next to compare. I would rate this Audiobook format a 3.5/5. I am glad it’s finished and my therapist will enjoy the same. I prefer Janina Fischer and her writing style to Schwartz.
