Historia
The Five Hundred, the elite families who rule the Terran Federation and control its political power and its wealth, have grown steadily wealthier and more powerful, thanks to the war against the Terran League. War may be hard on the people who get caught in its path, but it's very good for business in the short term, and the Five Hundred own the shipyards that build the Navy's ships. They own virtually all the industry that produces the weapons and material the war consumes so voraciously... and they've made damn sure someone else does the dying.

Great Series
Revisado: 12-26-24
This series combines the strategy of war with the politics of human nature to give an accurate, yet well-paced, picture of war on an intergalactic level.
Of course, not great military sci-fi series is devoid of combat, a lot of it, and Ascent to Empire delivers. From task force-size engagements in space with high-tech weapons to 1:1 fights to the death with blades, the series offer an all-too-realistic look at war — up close and personal.

The Best Yet
Revisado: 04-29-24
This is a spectacular series that is expertly narrated. I always find myself impatiently waiting for the next audiobook to come out.
While I have enjoyed all 14 previous books, this one was not only the best, but it also left me feeling like I had somehow gotten to know the key characters personally and certainly in a way I hadn’t before.
The combination of writing and narration opened doors into the hearts and minds of Van and those closest to him. This book took me from an outsider looking in to an insider looking both in and out, almost like I was part of the crew.
Now I can’t wait for book 16.

Love the Series, This Book Not So Much
Revisado: 03-27-24
— SPOILERS —
The original trilogy was phenomenal, and the voice acting was even better. However, this felt like a step down in every way.
First, the narration was terrible compared to the original. The narrator has been good in other books, but he was given an impossible task taking over for a trio of narrators that brought every character to life.
The plot was also far too predictable and poorly paced. You always knew what was going to happen and at times felt like saying “get on with it already. Reunite the Eternals and move on.” Maybe the Hunt and Boneyard would have been more interesting with better narration, then again, maybe not.
Also, did not like the fact key Eternals were killed-off while Ogor demonstrated the resilience of a cockroach — the guy just wouldn’t die regardless of what they did to him. Not really credible.
Lastly, either the script or narrator used the wrong name a few times which created unnecessary confusion. For example, after the mass explosion ending the Hunt, the narrator had Kensint speak to Reklin. Making you think he survived. Also, how did Quis die? The first mention of his death was on the ship given to the Eternals for winning the Hunt.
I really hope Book 5 returns to the original formula and narrators.

Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Unbelievable!
Revisado: 11-07-23
Despite having listened to over 250 audiobooks, none compares to how this series grips you and won’t let go.
The combination of story, character development, and narration make it the best I’ve listened to. It’s amazing.
PLEASE DONT WAIT AS LONG FOR THE NEXT BOOK! I just can’t wait that long! The anticipation for this book was unbearable, and I would have given up had it not been for Reí.
Please write Book 3 within a year. 6 months would be even better.
Thanks & well done!

Initially Surprised, Now Hooked
Revisado: 12-14-22
Book 1 started a little slow and fragmented, but midway thru Book 1 and thru Book 2 it has been nonstop action with a great story and character development.
Also, the narrator is excellent. When you have a standard based on Bray, Boyer, Kafer & Daniel’s, you tend to be critical of narrators. Frisbee is phenomenal in this series. Really brings the characters and situations to life.
Would definitely recommend.

Despite not really knowing why to expect, I found myself unable to put the first and second installments down. Everything g about the story, narrator, pacing, and character development exceded my expectations.
While not eclipsing my Gold Standard (Galaxy’s Edge,” it comes close. Can’t wait for the third installment.
