Historia
The definitive work on Stalin's purges, The Great Terror was universally acclaimed when it first appeared in 1968. While the original volume had relied heavily on unofficial sources, later developments within the Soviet Union provided an avalanche of new material, which Conquest has mined to write this revised and updated edition of his classic work.

Excellent on all accounts including the narration. I only wish the tile from the same author covering the manufacturer Ukrainian famine, which is referenced in this book at least 3 times, were available from audible.
And if it were so I’d recommend the same narrator be used!

Historia
Visionary physicist Geoffrey West is a pioneer in the field of complexity science, the science of emergent systems and networks. The term complexity can be misleading, however, because what makes West's discoveries so beautiful is that he has found an underlying simplicity that unites the seemingly complex and diverse phenomena of living systems, including our bodies, our cities, and our businesses.

For the lay person
Revisado: 03-01-18
I was interested in this due to the subject matter. Given that the author is a physicist, and those sorts of researchers are always searching for “unified theories”, I gave it a shot. I found the story to be a good perspective as an outsiders, e.g. physicist, sojourn into other disciplines. While most researchers do not do so, I am glad that the author shares his candor as to the glaring intellectual holes in other fields which his book seeks to explore and fill. However, where the book dwindled in my eyes was in the writing. While the subject matter was interesting in parts, and it clearly written by a research, as many of my PhD and MD PhD colleagues would talk, the substance of the work drags on at times to the point of tedium in a hopes of conveying a rather basic concept. Simply put, there is belaboring a point, and then there is meandering. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a global perspective into the interconnected nature of what science used to be, before specialization became in vogue...and for that I hold this work and its author in my esteem

Historia
Sir Francis Bacon's The New Atlantis is a utopian novel about a mythical land called Bensalem, where the inhabitants live happily with the sciences. In The New Atlantis, Bacon focuses on the duty of the state toward science, and his projections for state-sponsored research anticipate many advances in medicine and surgery, meteorology, and machinery. Although The New Atlantis is only a part of his plan for an ideal commonwealth, this work does represent Bacon's ideological beliefs.

To what am I even listening?
Revisado: 02-07-18
I was referred to this book by a contemporary author who espoused that this work was a classic. A title which was widely read in its time, and which discussed a well organized society of intellectualism. After listening the to the entire book, in which the narrator did a great job, I still have no idea the point of this work. It’s a long description of minutia. There is a bare thread plot, and while I’m sure it was quite a work of “adventure “ for its time, I cannot think of a single positive lesson, narrative, nor idea espoused in this work. My apologies that I spent the time!

Historia
Richard J. Evans's gripping narrative ranges across a century of social and national conflicts, from the revolutions of 1830 and 1848 to the unification of both Germany and Italy, from the Russo-Turkish wars to the Balkan upheavals that brought this era of relative peace and growing prosperity to an end. The first single-volume history of the century, this comprehensive and sweeping account gives the listener a magnificently human picture of Europe in the age when it dominated the rest of the globe.

Historia
Physical infrastructure in the United States is crumbling. The American Society of Civil Engineers has, in its latest report, given American roads and bridges a grade of D and C+, respectively, and has described roughly 65,000 bridges in the United States as 'structurally deficient'. This crisis - and one need look no further than the I-35W bridge collapse in Minnesota to see that it is indeed a crisis - shows little sign of abating short of a massive change in attitude amongst politicians and the American public.

This phone is mostly in history with the basic overview of what coding is and is not for this language. I know it is hard to present a coding book it in audio format. I would like to see the next chapter in the series as Facebook alone does not give enough detail for a person to really start coding in one hour

Stunningly uninteresting story, and I'm used to long dry stories. I'm so disappointed. Story currently said (I'm paraphrasing) "he was a drinking companions but was cocky when it came to politics", about a minor person who said something to someone who has nothing to do with anything. And the entire story goes this way and I'm 3 hours in!

I have a PhD in Chemistry with a minor in Math and physics. Although I understand what is said, without seeing the math which is being written, which Feynman is relying on heavily, it's very hard to follow AT ALL what the topic is at many points. I found this lecture on YouTube and will watch it there, with video, and given this limitation I find it shameful audible charges $10-$15 per part...for all 15 parts. This is the first audible product which I have been truly dissatisfied with and I'm a heavy user

The book is very informative and I would highly recommend that you read this book. but my only complaint is that it drags on in certain chapters beating a dead horse which is very obvious after the first three paragraphs of what you're trying to say but I don't feel the teacher and the rest of the chapter to finish the thought.
