Narrator is a No!

She was awkward and had pauses in weird places and would read so slow then speed up. It was just awkward and she pronounced words weird sometimes. It’s like she left off the end of words sometimes. The book seemed boring. It could just be the narrator but I think the book itself was boring and odd.

So I just had to quit this book almost at the end because #1 where is it going? It just keeps lugging along with no real movement in the actual story line. I looked and realized that the story continues in the next book and from reading the synopsis, I’m led to believe that they are going to continue to circle around the same story. The whole struggle in the book is them making mountains out of mole hills or at least it seems that way because I honestly can’t go any farther. When I realized there were more books in the series I knew that my ears couldn’t handle listening to another book whisper-growled. I don’t know if the narrator thinks that sounds sexy but it’s not. It’s actually quite disgusting/borderline creeper sounding during some of the scenes. So I have like an hour left and I just can’t do it anymore. This might have been fine had I read it or had there been a different narrator. We’ll never know because I’m done!

I’m not fond of this narrator. She sounds more like she should do mysteries, suspense, or children’s books. Her voice just doesn’t pull off romance. She seems great just a little to mature sounding for this type of book. She’s be an amazing children’s book narrator. She just doesn’t do well with a passion/romance book. The story was a little boring to me too but again it could have been the narrator. I just couldn’t get through it.

I feel like I’m listening to some ASMR with all the smacking, swallowing, and licking vocal sounds. It seriously turned me off so much. I have NEVER heard a audio book with anything like that! 10 mins in an and I couldn’t deal with it anymore. Also the book is in first person view so you’d think her dialogue voice would be the same for the lead female whose telling the story but she uses a baby voice. It’s gross. She uses her regular voice for the male which is so odd! I did 20 mins of this book and it grossed me out. I never write reviews normally but I felt like I needed to warn people who can’t stand oral sounds like me. The story could be good for all I know but I have no clue. Y
