I’m addicted to the Jane Hawk series. I’ve been binging these for weeks now. My only critique is that Dean Koontz repeats himself a lot. I get reminding us about certain aspects the first time in a book but he repeats the same details sometimes three or four times in the same book. That drives me crazy. But I’m loving everything else!

Rader-Day Does it Again!

I read a LOT of mystery books and watch more than my fair share of murder cases on TV. This means I can usually guess who did it. I have yet to correctly guess who the murderer was in a Lori Rader-Day novel.
The characters in a Lori Rader-Day book are all well developed. It’s easy to live in the world of her books because she does does such a smooth, easy job of crafting the characters and the setting the scene.
You get to know the characters so well that they live on in your head. Any of her books could become a series or at least have a sequel because I don’t want the character’s stories to end. I want to learn more about them in subsequent books.
The Death of Us is well-crafted and flows easily. It would make a good movie.

I didn’t know much about Elon Musk. This book gave me insight into the man. I enjoyed listening but it’s entirely too long. With the exception of his childhood, every product creation story is repeated once or more. The author should have applied Musk’s manufacturing mantra and cut the book down drastically.

Lori Rader-Day wrote an endearing mini about a seemingly taciturn shopkeeper. In less than five minutes I was lured in and began to champion both Simone and the young man attempting to rob her store. I would love to read more about these characters!
