Historia
Jonathan Haidt skillfully combines two genres-philosophical wisdom and scientific research-delighting the listener with surprising insights. He explains, for example, why we have such difficulty controlling ourselves and sticking to our plans; why no achievement brings lasting happiness, yet a few changes in your life can have profound effects, and why even confirmed atheists experience spiritual elevation.

Historia
In The Victory of Reason, Rodney Stark advances a revolutionary, controversial, and long overdue idea: that Christianity and its related institutions are, in fact, directly responsible for the most significant intellectual, political, scientific, and economic breakthroughs of the past millennium. In Stark's view, what has propelled the West is not the tension between secular and non-secular society, nor the pitting of science and the humanities against religious belief. Christian theology, Stark asserts, is the very font of reason.

Excellent overview of the sweep of capitalism
Revisado: 07-12-21
Easy to read and understand overview of the history of capitalism and its links to Christianity and other associated cultural developments that allowed for its rise.
Easy to understand and well documented with a considerable bibliography to support claims. Not just another book written entirely out of the author's idealogical views. I appreciate this whether I agree with the claims or not, at least the author gives me the opportunity to review his sources and make an opinion for myself.
Easy to read. Suitable for YA readers if you wanted to hand your teenager a book about history they would likely prefer over a typical text book.

Refreshing, in several ways
Revisado: 07-31-19
This book was very entertaining and tells a tale that is refreshing in several ways. First, the creation of an entirely new world with universal mechanics that are drastically different from our own was impressive and interesting. The story of the conqueror's rise, fall, and attempt at redemption was masterfully told. The things the conqueror learned throughout his life about revenge, power and ultimately forgiveness were well told and believable.
The only weakness I think that bears pointing out is the way his powers are always used as a bit of a deus ex machina. His powers are the solution to many of the situations he finds himself in and what's more, only he has figured out how to use his powers in these unique ways even though there has been an order of arch knight magic users that have been researching these powers for years.
That said though, the book is an enjoyable tale of redemption. And i am thoroughly impressed by Shad's writing of it. Very well done and enjoyable for his first published work.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Great Story - Great Narration
Revisado: 03-27-18
Any additional comments?
Rosaro Dawson is a great narrator of this book. Her work as the night nurse and similar roles make her entirely believable as the character Jas in Andy Weir's book. I was able to picture her as Jas rushing through the halls of Artemis.
Andy Weir does a great job of writing another book that takes place in the difficult environment of outer space. He includes enough of the specifics about vacuums, chemistry, and other conditions that would exist in a city built on the moon. This will keep the nerds (like me) happy but doesn't detract if you are less interested in specifics. Weir's attention to details about space and life in space make the story believable and leaves us with the impression that survival on the moon isn't as far away as we might think.

Historia
Dante and Blays have forced Gladdic from the Collen Basin. But the victory might be only the first battle in a much larger war. With the land on the brink of starvation and politically fractured, Dante and Blays scramble to secure Collen's food, borders, and allies. Before their work is done, rumor arrives from Mallon. The enemy is mustering for another attack. Even if Collen can weather the coming storm, there's no guarantee their independence will last out the year.

This series keeps getting better.
Revisado: 02-22-18
This narration is outstanding and the story continues to stay engaging. The adventures are strewn with moments that make you think and consider. This elevates what would otherwise just be another fantasy series into something truly special.
I especially enjoy Tim Gerard Reynolds narration, his consistent voices for each of the characters gives them real life. I actually started the cycle of galand because it was narrated by Tim, it was recommended to me after I listened to Tim narrate the Red Rising Trilogy by pierce brown.
Edward keep writing awesome books so Tim can read them too me! You will get my money every time!
