Historia
During a houseboat vacation on the remote Lake of the Woods, a violent gale sweeps through unexpectedly, stranding Cork and his daughter, Jenny, on a devastated island where the wind has ushered in a force far darker and more deadly than any storm. Amid the wreckage, Cork and Jenny discover the body of a teenage girl. She wasn't killed by the storm, however; she'd been bound and tortured before she died. Nearby, underneath a tangle of branches, they also find a baby boy, hungry and dehydrated, but still very much alive.

Historia
Travis Devine has become a pro at accomplishing any mission he's given. But this time it’s not his skills that send him to Seattle to aid the FBI in escorting orphaned, twelve-year-old Betsy Odom to a meeting with her uncle, who’s under federal investigation. Instead, he’s hoping to lay low and keep off the radar of an enemy–the girl on the train. But as Devine gets to know Betsy, questions begin to arise around the death of her parents.

Great narration
Revisado: 01-05-25
The plot is excellent. And how many audio books have this many excellent narrators? The answer is none. With many audiobooks there is one narrator trying to be multiple people. Even with the good ones it is evident that the same person is trying to be being multiple voices. Not with this book. It is more like a movie recording.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

I have read every Grisham book. This is his worst, in my opinion. I returned it after listening for 3 1/2 hours. I was falling asleep.

Historia
Once upon a time there was a version of our faith that was practically...irresistible. But that was then. Today we preach, teach, write, and communicate as if nothing has changed. As if “The Bible says it” still settles it. It’s time to hit pause on much of what we’re doing and consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible, no status, and humanly speaking, little chance of survival. What did they know that we don’t? What made their faith so compelling, so defensible, so irresistible? Buckle up...you’re about to find out.

Worst of the series
Revisado: 01-28-19
I think the first book in this series was the best. I think each one has been a little worse. The action sequences are OK, but the time spent on background information is slow and difficult to listen to. Much of the dialogue is silly. The plot is not very believable. I may not read the next one in the series.

Best Reacher So Far
Revisado: 12-15-18
We have read every Jack Reacher novel so far and think this is the best story Lee Child has ever written. It is a bit of a psychological thriller with two story lines that end up intersecting. You have the usual Jack Reacher fight scenes and Reacher being Reacher, but the other story line is really well done and scary in a Hunger Games type of way. I don’t want to give away the plot but highly recommend this novel. You won’t be disappointed.

Another Excellent Baldacci Thriller
Revisado: 09-26-16
If you like action packed thrillers, this novel is for you. The Will Robie character is developed here with his FBI partner, Agent Vance. Julie Gedde, a 14 year old girl with a lot of problems to overcome, is the third major character. The plot takes unexpected turn after unexpected turn. The narrators, male and female, are excellent. We listened to this Will Robie novel out of order but that was OK. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We love Baldacci.

A relevant story by a master storyteller
Revisado: 07-21-15
Jodi Picoult weaves a masterful story around a current topic. The scene is a school shooting. The story centers around what kids must go through trying to navigate the messy life of a student, dealing with bullying, peer pressure, and the ever present desire to fit in. We have all been one of these kids, the bully, the jock, the brain, the outcast. You will see yourself somewhere in this book.

Historia
Every spring, Little Leaguers across the country mimic his stance and squabble over the right to wear his number, 2, the next number to be retired by the world’s most famous ball team. Derek Jeter is their hero. He walks in the footsteps of Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, and Mantle, and someday his shadow will loom just as large. Yet he has never been the best player in baseball. In fact, he hasn’t always been the best player on his team. But his intangible grace and Jordanesque ability to play big in the biggest of postseason moments make him the face of the modern Yankee dynasty, and of America’s game.

Abysmal narration
Revisado: 05-26-15
This story stops after the 2011 season. That's OK. He wrote it when he wrote it. The story is pretty good and gives good insights into Derek Jeter as a person and as a baseball player. The tough part for any baseball fan will be listening to this narrator. It is evident he knows nothing about baseball and has never followed the sport at all. He mispronounces more player names than he pronounces correctly. He reads game scores as 2 and nothing instead of 2 to zero. Really? Has he ever even watched a game? Does he think he is reading a tennis set? He should apologize to Bill Freehan, Robin Yount, Mariano Rivera, Albert Pujols, CC Sabathia, Mark Texeira, and a host of others for butchering their names. You would think a narrator would research names if he has never followed the sport. This made it difficult for a baseball fan to listen to this book, even though the content was fine. If 0 stars had been available for the narration, I would have given it that score. This is a book I wish I had read instead of listening to.
