Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

The narration ruins the book.
Revisado: 05-20-19
This is a tragic story all the way around, as true crime is. But it's read as it's an upbeat comdy. The narration is too fast and too happy! It's disturbing! If I was the author of this book, I would have issue with the narrator. Overall, the book is short and I find a bit too sympathetic towards the rapists/murderer. It does show how parents of sociopaths are. That their child is perfect. Anyway, it's a cheap book, but still returned.

Typical defense attorney mindset
Revisado: 03-31-19
This was hard to listen to! The narrator was awful! Every time she says, Eddie, I cringe. And it is said a lot! This book is written by a defense attorney and has that very bias veiw. I watched this trail when it happened...I'm sorry, but the kid is guilty.

Historia
The gruesome murder of hopeful starlet Elizabeth Short, in the noir-tinged Los Angeles of 1947, has a permanent place in American lore as one of the most inscrutable of true-crime mysteries. Now, Piu Eatwell - relentless legal sleuth and atmospheric stylist - cracks the case after 70 years. With recently unredacted FBI files, newly released sections of the LAPD files, and explosive new interviews, Eatwell has unprecedented access to primary evidence and a persuasive culprit.

Boring!
Revisado: 03-23-19
This was a book more about the journalist who was out on the case. It's extremely boring. I listened to it because I have read everything on this subject. She never really lays out any evidence. Again...boring.

Historia
On March 11, 2003, in Brownsville, Texas - one of America's poorest cities - John Allen Rubio and Angela Camacho murdered their three young children. The apartment building in which the brutal crimes took place was already run down, and in their aftermath a consensus developed in the community that it should be destroyed. It was a place, neighbors felt, that was plagued by spiritual cancer.

Extremely well written!
Revisado: 03-23-19
Somehow this is a beautiful book about an extremely ugly crime. It makes you think. The author in no way glorifies the crime or the murderers. It goes into so much more than just the murders. Mental health, good and evil, drugs, and poverty and how they make up our culture in America. It is so well written that you feel you know Brownsville, TX and the building the murders took place. I hate this crime happened, of course, but this book was so caring and thoughtful you feel grateful for it.;t o help deal with the horrors of three dead children. Well worth the time to read!!
