Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Crackling Good Story—binge-worthy plot.
Revisado: 01-04-24
I am a Jack Reacher/Lee Child’s fan girl, mostly because I started out my life as the first-born of a story-telling, yarn-appreciating, WWII Marine veteran who was a military weapons historian and expert right up until his death in 2000. This was my first Audible ‘Reacher’ and I was looking forward to being read to.
The pace of the narration/reading was great. I appreciated the narrator’s voice/tone, diction, inflections. Please note that what follows is very subjective. Some “voices” were difficult, no, actually irritating, to listen to. They were too much of a stretch to do the characters justice and were off-putting. (I found myself grimacing at the following: Holly/the heroine; the main villain/antagonist; Dexter: Milosevic; the militia women; the Boston agent; several others. Reacher, a few others and the narrator voices were easy to listen to. This may not be a problem for many listeners and I DID finish listening because the story was really good and engrossing.

A beyond-stellar Experience which I wanted to never end!
Revisado: 04-07-23
A brilliant diary of the making of a movie hitched to a delightful and engaging story written and narrated by the inimitable Emma Thompson. What’s not to love and listen to again and again? Highly recommend for any reader who has forgotten how special it was to be read to, and for those who have always enjoyed reading aloud for/to others. After more than 3/4 of a century as a dedicated, almost incessant/obsessive reader, I am now a real fan girl of this medium. And long may Emma Thompson contribute to it!
